We are travelling to/from Santiago with QF. My husband has ow Emerald status. What are the lounge facilities like at Santiago

Actually, I have a question myself for those that have been there. I'm flying out of SCL on QF28 next year, departing at around 2.30pm. I'll be coming from Brazil - should I take a really early morning departure from Brazil to get to SCL just in time for the QF28 departure, or would it be worth taking a redeye to SCL arriving ~6am, then spending the morning/lunchtime in the LAN lounge? Would I be able to sleep through the morning there?

The new 2-level LA lounge in SCL is very good, so yes - but they do serve Louis Roederer Champagne, so you may prefer to stay awake ;). Or do you prefer grosse biers to Champagne Mattg? ;):).

Not that I like red-eyes, but I'd do it that way - are you in J, though? I did it recently in J from BOG, had a shower in SCL and partook of a few LRs before my IB flight to MAD. And very pleasant it was, too .

The SCL-SYD sector was booked during the Early bird sale in discount Y  so no possibility of even upgrading, I'm afraid. I haven't booked internal flights within South America yet though.

I usually despise redeyes too, but if I can get a decent sleep in the LAN lounge before QF28 then I'd consider it. Could help with jetlag returning to Australia too as QF28 is a long daytime flight arriving in the evening.

I am definitely partial to nice champagne though. It sounds like I shouldn't skip lunch in SCL. ;)

Louis Roederer is generally regarded as the Rolls-Royce of NV Champagnes. DO NOT skip lunch  - or pre-lunch drinks ;). I think the bar opens at either 1000 or 1100 - my recent RTW TR has a comment on this exact point . Be at the ready :p.

A great, new lounge. Some comments on it (and how to find it!!) and pictures here.

There is a dark room with bed/couches for napping/sleeping on.

It's a wonderful lounge. Spacious, light, with great views over the runway to the mountains. The food is nothing to rave about, but perfectly acceptable. The wines on the other hand are exceptional. LAN has chosen to showcase the very best of Chile (and usually Argentina) and there are always exceptional, properly aged reds available. I would go as far as to put the selection alongside the F lounge in Dubai

I discovered they put food out in a few spots, not just the main area, and I found some really nice sushi tucked away in a corner upstairs.
