I have a question about being a oneworld emerald . If I fly on jetstar Sydney to MEL with only carry on do I get free checked baggage ? Also from reading I have access to the business class lounge with one guest. Children aged 4 and 2 surely wouldn't count.
The oneworld emerald status is with AA so is it just a matter of a phone call to add my aa membership number to my jetstar BP.

Just don't fly deathstar..........they dont care about status.

If you only have carryon why do you need free checked baggage?

Kids are normally ok into the lounges.

You have no status flying deathstar.

Are you saying I don't even have lounge access ? I have to. I booked 5 $10 fares with carry on only now I realise I need checked baggage .

Huh??? You only get lounge access with qantas status . No luggage either

Lounge access with oneworld status in hoping into the J Dom with family of (4) . Yes il have to by the checked baggage what about priority boarding and seat selection is That available to oneworld's on jetstar ?

Jetstar is not part of Oneworld and thus Oneworld status will not get you in. Qantas status only gets you in because they're part of the same wider group which has no relation to the fact that they're in OW.

That may be possible once JQ becomes a part of Oneworld.

Interesting that Cathay owns Dragonair and they are Oneworld affiliate and Qantas owns Jetstar but they are nowhere.

I know it is not good comparing Dragonair and Jetstar as it is like comparing chalk and cheese but I am sure you are not the first to have this dilemma.

As indicated, Jetstar are not part of one world.

With that there are no prescribed benefits for oneworld elites other than those Gold & Platinum of Qantas who get lounge access before a Jetstar flight ...

... and that is it!

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

As said you do not 'officially' have lounge access. Anecdotally I can recall at least one BA Gold reporting that they were given access at a domestic Qantas Club when flying JQ but you will be at the mercy of the lounge attendant on the day and should not count on getting access. That said, good luck and let us know how you go.

From the qantas website it states I have allowed access plus one guest in the J lounge and the QP. I guess il see on the day

Only if you are a QFF. OWE or any OW status member (excluding Qantas) is not entitled to lounge access if travelling JQ on a JQ flight number.

No it doesn't. It says that for QF Platinum, but not for OWE.

That's the international lounges I'm talking about the domestic, tho it states oneworld emeral travelling on a oneworld flight marketed and operated which jetstar falls under. Jetstar in my opinion is marketed as a oneworld product.

Where is Jetstar marketed as a oneworld product???

The oneworld logo is not on the side of the jet
Jetstar's logo does not appear on the oneworld website, its IATA code (JQ or 3K or the rest) does not appear on the oneworld fare rules.

The only partial connection with oneworld is for a few select flights where there is a QF code and they have recently enabled booking those codes as part of a *ONE* fare or *CIRC fare

Jetstar is a Low Cost Carrier, that just happens to be owned by a company who's full service subsidiary is a member of oneworld

It is quite clear as day that you do not have access under the eligibility posted on the QF website.

JQ, 3K, VF or what ever you want to call Jetstar is not a member of oneworld, and does not fall under oneworld. Different story on a QF flight number, but end of the day, JQ does not fall under Oneworld in your situation.

No access as per the eligibility section on the QF website for OWE, plain as day.

Another example is Iberia & Vueling - no OW benefits with Vueling.

Can you show where it is? As the others have stated JQ is not part of OW so as an AA OWE you will have zero access to the lounge (and JQ dont have PB on domestic flights..
