Am I reading this correct for QFF - no real change to lounge access? Still need to be on a QF code?

Lounge access seems to be a bit of a dogs breakfast. In Qantas operated lounges you will be able to access the lounge travelling on the FJ code, but you won’t ibe able to access the FJ lounge n NAN if travelling on the FJ code (only if travelling on a QF code out of NAN).

No.
Qantas has added a table for Fiji.
Frequent Flyer - Flying Qantas and Partner Airlines - Flying with Qantas & Jetstar - Earning Qantas Points

Obviously you may earn more on QF codeshares

That's earning points/SCs (and probably no real change for QFF on FJ from before OW Connect). My comment was about Lounge Access.

Which seems contrary to the intent. You'd think an FJ/QF/CX/AA/BA customer travelling on an FJ code would have lounge access at either end.

Previously, FJ code ex-SYD - no QF 1st Lounge access for WP - period. And if not in J, then no QF lounge at all. I'll re-read these and see what changes QF publish to lounge access rules.

No.
oneworld connect airlines give priority check in/boarding to all oneworld status holders as per the normal oneworld rules for that level.
status holders from a sponsor airline get full oneworld benefits when on the connect airline.
eg, FJs sponsors are AA, BA, QF and CX. A QFF member flying on FJ will get lounge access, point/SC earn, etc, while a JMB member will only get priority boarding/check in.

A QFF member flying on FJ will get lounge access,

According to the table at the bottom of this page: oneworld connect

A QFF status member flying on an FJ flight number does not get QF operated lounge access - it needs to be a QF flight number.
A QFF status member flying on an FJ flight number does however get FJ operated lounge access (in NAN).

I hope that table is wrong!

It's also interesting that CX elites seemingly do get access on FJ/FJ services whereas QF do noy

Actually, according to the table your first sentence is correct, but you second sentence is incorrect.

If you go down the QFF status column, it only lists " Eligible + 1 guest" where there is a QF flight number on the ticket. Essentially access is based on the airline you hold status with coupled with the airline code on your ticket, they match = lounge access, they don't match = no lounge access (with the exception of CX status holders taking FJ coded flights out of NAN). So nothing at all seems to be changing for QFF members.

What a crock of steaming hot @&*#&*@*#.

Sorry - I read the wrong column!

But there was this on ausbt:

Booking an FJ flight number only grants access to Qantas business class lounges if flying business class, and no lounge access if booked in economy, except in Nadi, where Qantas Gold members and above have long been offered access to Fiji Airways’ Premier Lounge prior to Fiji Airways flights with FJ and QF flight numbers.

It wouldn't be Qantas or oneworld more generally if there wasn't confusion surrounding lounge access.

Even the table at the bottom of the release on the oneworld website (Fiji Airways flies as first oneworld connect partner from today - oneworld news) could have been written much better. What exactly is a "Customer from British Airways . . ."? Shouldn't it read something like 'Elite members from British Airways . . ."? There's a hell of lot more "customers" than there are elite members.

:)

I though a big part of the oneworld connect concept was oneworld like reciprocal lounge access between the onewold connect airline and its oneworld sponsors.

oneworld connect

The additional benefits offered by oneworld connect partners to customers from their oneworld sponsors and vice versa include:
...
Access to select lounges at key airports for First or Business Class passengers or those with eligible top-tier frequent flyer status.

From what I can see from the various sources - no a lot of change for QFFs! Priority checkin and boarding. Checked through luggage.

We still get the same points, SCs and lounge access (or not if flying FJ code in whY - definitely no 1st Lounge for us WPs...).

I guess we were/are realitivly spoilt given FJ wasn’t OW at all previously. But I *was* hoping for more....

I can say that checked through luggage will be better than my experience a couple of years ago on AA from SFO-LAX connecting to FJ (QF code) to NAN. Wouldn’t check through and had to collect and recheck! QF 1st Lounge in LAX also refused entry but relented.

If AS joins as OW connect what should we expect? Anything different?

So as a qantas WP flying J on a FJ ticket do I now get access to the qantas F lounge instead of the overcrowded qantas J lounge in Sydney?
I can’t decipher from all the generous information given.....

No, it would seem. Basically no change from pre-OW Connect.

Worse, any OWE/S in whY on FJ code will still have *no* lounge access...

I have an upcoming Y FJ flight, oneworld connect is very disappointing, the lack of lounge access is the deal breaker on an FJ flight as a QF platinum/ Emerald. Surely these measley benefits could have just been extended by way of reciprical agreement between these couple of airlines rather than tarnishing the oneworld brand and coming up with this new proposition.

I've already sent my feedback in to Oneworld via FB messenger, I suggest you all do the same.

I think if the lounge access was fixed up for the sponsor airlines then this would actually be a good proposition.

Looking at booking FJ flights SIN-NAN-MEL-SIN, where MEL-SIN is operated by QF. As a QF Gold it seems I won’t even get access to the MEL lounge on QF operated flight, because it is marketed by FJ ... what a joke.

I too, concur that OneWorld Connect is pretty much a joke.

I am a QR WP / OWE and recently booked and travelled from SYD/NAD return in J on revenue tickets. Both flights were booked with QF but SYD/NAD was operated by FJ and the return was operated by QF.

I was denied access to the QF F lounge and directed to the J lounge (as a J pax on a QF ticket I could access there, but if I was travelling in Y then I would have had no lounge access at all).

I have not received any status credits or FF mileage as this flight was marketed by QF, but operated by FJ.

On return flight, I got access to the lounge in NAD (again, travelling J, but if I was travelling Y my OWE would have provided access) and did receive full status credits and FF mileage.

It’s frustrating - if I booked FJ then I would expect some issues, but as I booked, paid and was travelling on QF flight #’s I expected OW benefits where they were available.

If full benefits aren’t available, there should be a notice when you book! For example - I was booking an Iberia flight (with IB #) but there was a notice that told me it was operated by Vueling and no OW benefits applied. So I made alternate arrangements.

QF and FJ are taking the Mickey here ... with this OW Connect malarkey
