With Fiji Airways joining OneWorld as a full member, the idea of OneWorld Connect is currently rested.
However, there are many OneWorld carriers who has low cost affiliate, for example Jetstar from Qantas, Vueling from IAG, HK Express from Cathay Pacific, Firefly from Malaysia Airlines and Jetstar Japan and Zip from Japan Airlines.
I have been thinking if OneWorld could add these airlines to become OneWorld connect, wouldn't that could have greatly benefited frequent flyers and get them more likely to fly with their Low Cost affiliate than others?
I would have foresee OneWorld Connect could provide interline and single PNR for partner airlines connecting with their LCCs, eventually could provide lounge access and additional baggage allowance for Sapphire and Emerald customers and finally Tier and Points earn for those.
With Asian LCCs struggling, I can foresee that would have been a saver for FireFly and HK Express, and also allow Vueling to successfully fend off garbage airlines such as EasyJet and Ryanair who tries to rip passengers off and help them to demise and fold.
Flying is not about cheap tickets, it is about great service and a premium experience. It is time to change or I fear those legacy airlines will become irrelevant in the future.
