"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Hi everyone, I thought I might share my OWA trip as I have been following along and taking in everyone's tips and tricks. The ultimate goal is to visit every Disney theme park in the world, hence the destinations. It has been super difficult to say the least, I had my booking not ticketed fast enough on more than one occasion and had to spend a lot of time on the phone back and forth with Qantas, plus the social media channels. I believe my name is on a dart board in some call centre somewhere because of how often I would call. I booked 2 x business class in the following
Disney Cruise from Sydney before or after the trip too?

Anyone able to share their experience on the timeline for a booking being ticketed after points have been refunded & deducted?

My points have been refunded (from the first segment that I subsequently turned into an OWCA) but the 318k has not been deducted. I've been told it's ticketed but I haven't yet received an e-ticket.

I'm needing some help with our itinerary, needing to rebook our RTW and having trouble finding rewards flights to get us from Asia to Aus. Looking at mid-July, ideally economy or premium economy (can't find business class seats for our flights over)

Thanks :) I considered HND but getting there from Europe was a challenge. I only found flights to BOM-HKG-HND. It'd be a pain, but doable if needed

The Qantas ticketing curse has struck again. I’m currently on a RTW J ticket and been out of range for a few days to come back to the dreaded Qatar flight time change notification and immediately log on to the app to see my DOH - BNE leg has been removed! I swear, if anyone wants to buy the million points I have sitting there it wouldn’t take more than a case of beer at times like these. Onto the call centres I go…

The Fijian CC just informed me Qatar cancelled my ticket and this happens all the time and it’s not Qantas fault. This guy has been giving me some serious attitude too, if anyone has had any success emailing the Qantas staff PM me their email address as I have only ever made contact with Steph Tully. The last thing I want to be doing on my holiday is looking for wifi or reception and HUACA in remote areas of Central America.

That really sucks. Hope you can get it sorted. Have you sent an email to the ticketing escalation address? They can be very responsive for flights closer to departure.

I believe my name is on a dart board in some call centre somewhere because of how often I would call. I booked 2 x business class in the following destinations over Dec 23/Jan 24:

Sydney to Manila - QF
Manila to Hong Kong - CX
Hong Kong to Tokyo - CX (stop 1)
Tokyo to Shanghai - JL (stop 2)
Shanghai to Hong Kong to Dubai - CX (stop 3)
Dubai to Amman to Paris - RJ (stop 4)
Paris to London to Orlando - BA (stop 5)
Los Angeles to Tokyo to Melbourne - JL
Melbourne to Sydney - QF

It is still a long way away and I am sure some issue may arise in the future but for now I am going to enjoy having a complete journey. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their past experiences and assistance.
Sweet trip!

They have been very unresponsive at that escalations address, just an automated email initially.

This was a quick response on instagram I got saying “Thank you for your message. We've looked at your reservation and find that the flight from DOH-BNE has dropped out and there's no longer business class available on that Qatar flight. PT”.

You have a choice between an expert team with a track record of fixing things, or a social media team who post pretty pictures. I know who I’d be turning to to fix my booking.

Yeah, probably wasn’t clear enough. I have contacted them via all possible pathways. Call centres (HUACA multiple times), social media asking for them to refer me to a call centre member from HBA, emailing the rewards helpline.

I am due to go off grid in 24 hrs for a week so there is some urgency which is why I am trying all avenues.

The people you are dealing with are not in a position to put you in touch with the call centre in Hobart. On the other hand, the escalations email address *is* the call centre in Hobart.

Anything is worth a shot. I *am* waiting primarily for the escalations email team to do something but alas, nothing as yet.

I've got my e-ticket for my OWCA but points have yet to be deducted. I have a -318k charge and then a credit for 318k immediately after. My flight was ticketed about 24 hours after these "charges". Will the points be taken eventually or should I call up and make sure it's taken?

They will be taken just when you have convinced yourself you have scored a free flight. Certainly no need to remind them.

Latest for us, Qantas removing our advanced seat reservations on QF8. ExpertFlyer shows the cabin as fully booked with a few seats still blocked out. Seat reservation now is limited to selecting window or aisle preference only. Maybe the aircraft (789) is being changed? At least the flight hasn't been cancelled.
