Anyway, CheckMyTrip, will only show current ticketed information. This will be the 'old' information, until the booking has been reticketed.
 
I just had Qantas email me my itinerary from within Manage Booking (I presume that' s what people mean by MMB) and clearly they haven't updated it for the latest flight changes even though they are listed under Manage Booking as confirmed, etc.

I know I should call but as they are flights in and out of Japan I might wait till next week when the Japanese government is due to review access in case everything has to change then.

CheckMyTrip is just an app. I only use it as a travel aid. It's not an authority. For airline bookings, I want the e-ticket.

Anyway, the QF e-ticket advises: "This is your itinerary. You must bring it with you to the airport ...." The airline is not interested in CheckMyTrip.
 
Ok it took an hour, but after rejecting the first email they sent and insisting on a PDF with ticket number, I finally have a e-ticket which matches MMB :)
 
Check My Trip is the Amadeus system. If you click on the reservation code it will take you through to a screen that shows your ticket number if one exists. It is updated in real time whereas an e-ticket pdf just shows a point in time. The airline staff have no interest in your printed pdf e-ticket, they just want your booking reference to load up your actual ticket. If you choose not to trust Check My Trip that is your lookout, but the days of tickets as physical things is long gone.
 
I hope that AFFers don’t rely on CheckMyTrip as evidence of the ‘right’ to a seat. The airline is not interested in being shown an app on an ipad. And QF makes it quite clear that you must bring a copy of the e-ticket with you to the airport.

I wasnt aware you could do this, just went into MMB and asked it to email me.

The ticket it sends is the one from before my last chnage, it doesnt have the two extra flighst on it, so doesnt match what I see when I go into My Bookings.

Should of known I was being lied to.

I have the same issue - in MMB the correct flight details are showing but when I select to get the itinerary emailed to me it has the wrong dates for 4 flights which were changed back in Dec. I have changed 2 further international flights since but the eTicket number has remained unchanged from Dec too.
Agents keep telling me everything is OK and they can't see any problem but it worries me that if "push came to shove" our tickets might not be deemed valid. Have emailed QF but no reply. I have experienced so much incompetence and BS from OS CSA's dealing with my OWA (similar to what so many others have experienced) that I have zero confidence in the QF system. Customers without status are being treated like lepers by QF.

And the problem of domestic awards being blocked for pax on OWAs is farcical. For MEL - SYD where there are flights every half hour which have awards available for every one of them for standard reward bookings, I cannot get a single award flight (Y or J) within 24 hours of our flight from SYD - JNB (alternative dates for which are also blocked for OWAs). For the want of a connection time only 15 minutes shorter I now officially have a SYD stopover instead of a transit which is a stopover I wanted to use in Europe.

I think you’ve misunderstood my question.

Does the app, if one exists, show the ticket # (081) or the reservation # or both? If you don’t know, that’s cool, just say you don’t know.

I ask because I’m trying to deduce if it’s a delay in Qantas adding the ticket # to the itinerary PDF.
Not because I intend to take an independent app the the airport and try and use it to travel.

I have a Ticket Number when accessing my booking from partner airlines, but I DON’T have one when requesting my e-ticket via MMB on QF. It displays exactly like any normal e-ticket, with the correct itinerary, but does not have a date or ticket number.

I don’t like the idea of arriving at the airport and being told at check in that the tickets don’t exist.
I’ve asked the QF call centre many times and been told “yes sir the booking is ticketed” even when it definitely wasn’t. This was when I had Qatar in the booking, and also a few times in the past 2 weeks.

I’ve also been the victim of partner auto-cancellations due to slow ticketing over 10 times in the last 18 months.

The overseas centres are lovely and have been as helpful as possible, but they’ve also been wrong an astonishing amount the last two weeks.

If that doesn’t explain my anxiety about ticketing then I don’t know what will.

Maybe “it’s in the queue”. You’ve probably heard that one.

What does CheckMyTrip say? My guess would be that it’s old information, but I ‘m happy to be proven wrong.

I posted something a bit caustic - for which I apologise.

The QF website only recommends you bring a printed copy of the itinerary - it does not say you must have a printed e-ticket.

The e-ticket itself says you must bring your printed e-ticket to show at check-in, security, immigration and duty free. I suspect that is a legacy from the days when e-tickets first replaced flight coupons and it offered a physical alternative to the coupon in the pocket on the back of the boarding pass.

These days, I have been asked to show boarding passes, and on occasion I have been asked for a travel itinerary to prove I have a ticket to leave. I have only ever shown the text based email and that has sufficed - but I am a rich (by international standards) white male so perhaps I get less scrutiny than others who won different prizes in the birth lottery.

For sure nothing bad will happen to you if you do carry your printed e-ticket. I just think that airline staff are going to be interested in the data held on the Amadeus system, to which Check My Trip offers a window.

By the bye, I did a google search on security issues with CMT and found an old article from 20 years ago before CMT had passwords, but nothing remotely recent. I'm happy to be educated if the system is risky as I am exposing myself to risk at the moment.

Good luck with e-tickets and enjoy looking at them. My fetish is proper airline-issued boarding passes with on coloured card.

My CheckMyTrip app does not show a ticket number. Others may see something different. Anyway, I can’t see one, just the Booking Reference Number (PNR).

I only use CheckMyTrip as a travel aid so I’m no expert on it.

CMT shows your reservation code. If you click on that, it takes you through to a screen with more details including a ticket number if one exists.

CMT is updated in real time - it is fun to watch it as agents make changes to reservations. It is basically a public facing window to the Amadeus system that holds your ticket and which airlines use.

Oh. Thank you, but there’s nothing to apologise over. ❤️. I didn’t read anything into it at all.

Like others, I’ve been a bit pre-occupied this afternoon, including with the Call Centre, and watching for a new e-ticket from yesterday, and again today. And to cap it off, there’s been (hundreds of thousands of) points credited to my QFF account relating to awards. This may be a work in progress for trip changes, and although I’m used to award re-credits and debits, they usually come through together, and appear somewhat logical, so I can usually make sense of it all. I’ll just have to see how it turns out overnight.

Id feel better if could do web look-up without needing to download an app.

No - CMT updates in real time.

CMT only shows what has been ticketed, so if vetrade is seeing old information there compared with QF MMB then Qantas have not yet ticketed the changes and there remains cause for concern.

This is why we want to received the PDF with new ticket number following any change as it proves that changes have been ticketed and are real.

I am planning on booking a " round the world " trip for August/September 2023, in August this year. The trip will be around 8 weeks in length. Will I have to wait until a year before the last flight of the trip before I can book ? I will be booking Qantas on my ff points and I have Gold status.

As per the rules on the QF website:

14.6.1 Classic Flight Rewards will be valid for one year from the original ticketed departure date, unless otherwise specified. Some promotional Classic Flight Rewards (such as Classic Flight Rewards offered for a reduced number of Points) may be valid for a lesser period.

I take this to mean that you can book the first flights as soon as they become available and add more flights as they are released provided they are no more than 12 months later than the original departure date - so potentially almost two years from the date you book your first flights. Note that under normal non-Covid rules, you would have to pay a fee for each amendment to the booking.
