A simple itinerary SYD-JFK-LHR-SYD with QF has taxes and surcharges of ~A$621! Yes AA is cheaper but it would appear that CX is more expensive. I was under the impression that taxes and surcharges have been on the decrease recently.
Apparently she forgot that I wanted to ticket via AA and instead calculated taxes as if she's ticketing via CX. Anyway she's recalculated the taxes, and the total is KRW 7 008 600, which is approx AUD7080. A difference of approximately AUD700!
