One way price too expensive

The 2nd exit seats (not on door) 35 A/B & J/K SYD/HNL/SYD on the 767 aren't half bad in Y, lots room to seat in front.

I've been looking at going again but onwards to YVR.

The one i like best though is via HKG on CX.

I like the look of this option. We get to sample J class at the right time and HNL is a place we've always wanted to travel to. You make it seem pretty straight forward, fingers crossed I can replicate your efforts. Thanks for the tip and thank you to everyone else that has taken the time to help me out.
Ok...here's another idea.

Buy a oneway Y ticket SYD-HKG.
(Stopover HKG)
Fly HKG-YVR J class redemption 92 000 points per person.
(Arrive into YVR in good shape after J class flight)
Fly YVR-SEA-HNL Y class redemption 28 000 points per person.
Stopover HNL.
Fly HNL-SYD Y class redemption 36000 points per person.

Total points would be 156 000 points per person. (If you're short you'd be close enough to buy top-up points.)
Y class fare SYD-HKG (flying MH) approx $505 pp incl taxes.
