Hi All,

I'll be booking a flight to NZ shortly and noticed I can buy a one way ticket back to Austalia cheaper than I can buy it here to start with.

So my question is. Can I purchase a one way ticket from Australia to NZ online via QANTAS Australian site and then buy the one way from NZ to Australia on the QANTAS NZ site?

Yep! Nice and cheap ex NZ fare eh? eg MEL-AKL @AU$277.41 and AKL-MEL @NZ$178.40

(Pity you can't book oz->nz->oz via the NZ site as well, nz$400 gets AKL->MEL->AKL)

At those prices, I might have to do a duty free run to NZ and back ;-)

Aaah cheap duty free, qantas pub access for more drinkees and status credits!

Would customs in either NZ or Oz get a little suss if you arrived in NZ, then turned around and came back home????

Well my status / drinks run is happening!

Mar 12 - Bne -> Syd
Syd -> Akl
Mar 13 - Akl -> Syd
Syd -> Bne

~ $650 for 60 status credits, 4700 points. (plus of course hotel, the NZ departure tax and taxis etc)... but the duty free will make up for some of that, and it will be a nice (quick) trip away.

(oh, and in answer to the OP's question the booking system didn't get upset or have any conditions relating to the flights that seem to matter... )

Singapore residents have had access to business class return airfares to Syd/Mel/Bne for around $1700 AUD, that is 200 status credits and at least 10K points at bronze level, not to mention Skybed etc
