United Airlines - One-Way Awards
United Airlines - Miles & Money Awards

Feb 1 - one-way awards will be bookable on ual.com - FlyerTalk Forums

One-Way Awards
Sometimes one way is all you need.
For times like that, we're now offering One-Way Awards. For half the miles of a roundtrip award (starting at 12,500 miles for a domestic Saver Award), you can fly one way on United- or United Express-operated flights.

The facts
• One-Way Awards are available for both Saver Awards (fewer miles) and Standard Awards (more miles and more flexibility).
• You can use these awards to fly United- or United Express-operated flights only. Sorry, these awards cannot currently be used with our airline partners.
• You must fly the most direct route from origin to destination. That means no stopovers. You can, however, make connections. Tip: If you want to visit multiple cities, you can use multiple One-Way Awards to create your itinerary.
• You can change your award ticket at any time or get a refund before you travel, but know that you may be charged a fee. See fee chart for details

Complete One-Way Awards rules
Miles required
• The number of miles you’ll need will depend on your origin, destination and award level.
• You will need half the number of miles you would for a roundtrip award ticket.
• With a Saver Award, you’ll need fewer miles. With a Standard Award, you’ll need more miles, but will gain flexibility in dates and can book any seat that is available.
• When you use our award search, miles required will be indicated for each flight, but you can also refer to the One-Way Saver Awards or One-Way Standard Awards charts for a list of miles required by region.

How to book
One-Way Awards are available on mileageplus.com and united.com (U.S. site only) through our online award search. Just select "one-way" before entering your origin and destination.

Coming soon
Soon you’ll be able to mix and match different award levels when booking a roundtrip award ticket. We expect to launch this functionality in summer 2010, so stay tuned!
One-Way Award rules
1. Award types:
* One-Way Saver Awards allow you to fly one way for fewer miles than you could using One-Way Standard Awards. You need half the number of miles you would for the equivalent roundtrip Saver Award. See the One-Way Saver Awards chart for miles required by region.
* One-Way Standard Awards require more miles than One-Way Saver Awards but give you the flexibility to travel any time seats are available. You need half the number of miles you would for the equivalent roundtrip Standard Award. See the One-Way Standard Awards chart for miles required by region.
2. Flight availability:
* Awards can be used only for travel on United- and United Express-operated flights.
* There are no blackout periods for any of our award tickets. However, for One-Way Saver Awards, capacity control restrictions do apply.
3. Booking your award ticket:
* You can book these awards on mileageplus.com or united.com (U.S. site only).
* There is no discount for children or infants.
* The name on your award ticket must match the name on your government-issued photo ID.
4. What you can do with this award ticket:

Standby is only permitted for United- or United Express-operated flights and for trips that begin and end in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico or St. Thomas.
* Request a same-day confirmed flight change: You can request a confirmed United Economy® seat on another United- or United Express-operated flight for a wholly domestic itinerary that is departing on your original date of travel and is departing at least three hours from the time the request is made. If seats are available on the flight you’ve requested, we will confirm your seat and change your itinerary for a $75 fee.
