One night in Singapore

Hi all,

Spending one night in Singapore (arrive 2200, depart 0800) and looking for things to do/see.

Is the Singapore Flyer worth it? Orchard Road? Marina Bay Sands?

Happy to take accom recommendations to go along with activities. If you recommend a visit to the roof of the MBS I would prob consider staying there (so long as we get pool access during those hours).

A good cheap food area would be great to visit as well.

I have Accor and GHA platinum so Novotel/Pan Pacific(s) would be good.

Singapore Flyer - Yes do it once!
Orchard road - Well yes but only if you like mainly expensive shopping
Little India for amazing cheap Indian food - But it's busy/dirty which is a nice change for Singapore
Chinatown for cheap trinkets/souvenirs and food (hawker markets)
Marina bay Sands - Walk around and look from the outside it's good to look at
Singapore Zoo - Day and night - Amazing

My favourite Hawker stall are was Maxwell Road Hawker Centre in Chinatown (11 South Bridge Road)

Sorry, do you mean literally an overnight? Wouldn't you like to sleep if you are paying for a hotel that night?

If you have 34 hours, then there is a lot to do. Food is everywhere in SIN and everywhere is easy to get to so I wouldn't worry too much about hotel location. The Pan Pac in Marina has been recently renovated and I really liked it.

If you like zoos then that is the go, could spend most of the day there. Universal studios is only a half day, max, if the queues are short.
Shopping is everywhere too.
I'd maybe suggest- Zoo for a bit in the AM, head to hotel and freshen up, go to Chinatown and find dinner in Maxwell food centre, then wander to Clarke quay for some drinks.
Fill in anytime post- zoo and pre- Chinatown with shopping in either malls or maybe little India.

I prefer the marina and City hall area for hotels.

They would be at the hotel by 2300 by which time a lot of things would be closed including the MBS pool which opens 0700-2300 for house guests.

Agreed. That's why I wasn't quite sure. If it's literally 10 hours and you really want to head out, skip the hotel. Leave your luggage, taxi to Clarke quay or St James power station, party til late then hit up somewhere for early AM food. Geylang is kind of on the way to the airport and has a few 24 hour options.
Then hit up the airport, checkin, find a lounge and collapse.

Arriving at 10pm and departing 8am the next morning isn't much time. By the time you clear customs and head to the City, it would be 11pm. Orchard Road would be deserted as most of the clothing / department shops close at 10pm. Marina Bays would be a bit busier though, don't know if you can use the inifinity pool if staying at the MBS Resort. Don't know if Gardens By The Bay light show is still on at 11pm. And then the next morning, one has to get up say 5am, leave the hotel at 6am, to get back at the airport 630am.

If it's shopping that's important, can't go past Mustafa's at that time of the day (or night). It's at its most pleasant after midnight.

I would suggest going to Marina Bay Sands for a drink or two at the Skybar. A nice view, and you could even get a peek at the legendary pool. If it's a Friday or Saturday could even (just) catch the "Wonder Full" light show at MBS over the waterfront at 11pm and then head to the Skybar. After some drinks there head to Mustafa's for some shopping or people watching, then the nearby Swee Choon Tim Sum or other nearby cafe/food centre for late night munchies, then back to the airport ....

Alternatively there are other rooftop (high and low rise) bars that are quite enjoyable to visit for a drink or three, but MBS would have to be the most dramatic of them.

If you can interline your luggage or its hand luggage only then for less than 10 hours I would stay airside and spend a night at the transit hotel. which is in terminal 1. If you have to go through passport control and collect your luggage then staying at the Crowne Plaza which is across from terminal 3.

If you want Accor points then Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel isn't too far away about $15.00-$20.00 cab ride from the airport.

You don't have time for anything else.

Ahhhh now that's a game changer. If one wants to hit the town and a few bars along the way, especially on a Fri/Sat 10pm-8am then that's perfect.

We arrive at 9.45pm and take off at 7am the next morning......what's the best airport hotel? Not interested in a night out - will be doing that in HKG.

Having just spent a week in Singapore, you need way more than 8 hours. I'd get my bags checked through to the next destination & get some sleep at the transit hotel.

There's nothing that's so OMG amazing in my view that will be open in that period that I'd miss sleep for.

Agree the transit hotel will be best, or the Mecure just down the road, the CP is expensive.

location was good to get out but stay close to the airport. Lush surrounds. Not sure of the service these days but a LM was usually well run.

Q - We arrive on BA at 9.45pm and leave on CX at 7am the next morning. Will they ticket bags (might not take any - all depends on the wife) through BNE-SYD-SIN.....HKG? Separate (QF award) bookings. If you stay in the transit hotel I assume any bags would need to be in the system rather than with you?
