The queues for the security screening at Sydney T3 were so long this morning! I have never seen lines like that before! It snaked all the way to the entrance and beyond. I heard announcements about problems with check-in luggage as well.

Yesterday afternoon announcements that Q tags were not working and everyone needed to have a paper label on luggage.

Here's hoping not too many bags went down the chute before they realised.

As for the security line, the security company always takes ages before it wakes up and opens another line. QF doesn't seem to care much either, when I have raised it they just blame the contractor. Hopeless.

All lanes were being used and all the lanes were backed all the way back to the entrance of the terminal!

Maybe QF will realise when checked luggage is on the plane an the passenger is still on their way to the gate.

A little better this afternoon but still handing out extra luggage tag to be put on luggage.

It was pretty bad at 7am with queues almost to the door (and the priority queue longer than the others).

BTW, where is this other security queue on the ground floor that people talk about? I've had a look while arriving and couldn't see it near the baggage claim.

I normally arrive by train, and don't have time to go hunting for another security queue in case I can't find it, and then have to go back and join the end of a long line upstairs.

The only ground floor security point is in T2 not T3

It is not on the ground floor. It is on the departures level.

From the main security queues if you walk past oversize, the business class service desks it would be right in front of you.

Sometimes QF staff direct you to it if the queues are long

There are more flights out of T3 with Qantaslink there as well, but should not be the reason for the long queues though, perhaps trying out a new security procedure somehow.
