Old Q Tags available at lounges

My wife had her Platinum Q Tag stolen in the lobby of one of Cairo's best hotels. Someone must have been desperate. Not in a hurry to replace it with this news of their imminent disappearance.

Obviously. The fact that it really seems to annoy some people on AFF makes me want to attach a dozen to my carry on.

I used my WP tag on the recent flight to Melbourne for the AFF gathering. I would mind a P1 or CL tag either, but am not flying again until late February. They always worked for me even on multi city flights. So convenient! I think I will now cut the elastic off my old silver and gold tags and actually use them as coasters!

Picked up 2 P1 tags at SYD Flounge Wednesday evening. The guy at the counter said they've been getting a lot more requests for the tags ever since someone leaked about their availability. The plan was to use the unused tags to decorate a Christmas tree, but not they're giving them away to anyone who asks.

So I must have missed it, but does this mean that we will all now have to use the demon check in kiosks to print a paper tag for every trip? That’s a real shame if so and a definite step backwards in my opinion.

Alternatively I would just use my status and go to the business class check in (depending on the length of the line) since I'm not being paid to attach the paper tag

No announcement of such. It's just speculation since QF stopped giving away the tags with status and now seem to be getting rid of old stock.

I've found its often faster to NOT use the business class check in at domestic terminals and the regular line instead. Last time... J line 15 mins, regular line less than 2. (We had to do a D-I check in).

Edit: J line was 3 people at MEL, however it was just 1 counter and each person taking a bunch of time. (we did too, first time I've ever had 2 separate baggage tags on 1 baggage).

That's why I mentioned the length of the line, quick gut feel as to which will be quicker if you have the choice (someone with multiple bags and one staff vs a line of individuals one bag each with multiple staff).

I hear you @BenP. At my local airport,CBR, they actively discourage non-international connections from using the staffed check in. I have seen people asked to use the kiosks not the line. It’s kind of put me off as I like a low conflict travel day! Which I guess means it’s effective for them.
