Okay, so I may need to park a car near CBR airport for a few days/week here and there over the next 6 or so months.

Are they are off-site carparks at CBR airport ?

Not sure I really want to pay $57 for 3 days and then $10 a day at CBR airport itself!

Ideas ?

You need to tell us more about your circumstances for a solution, but am not familiar with offsite parking, but things may have changed since I left. When I lived in Tuggeranong, I'd often take a hire car. Convenient as Mrs Here2go and I both worked at Brindabella Park. Cheaper than taxi or parking depending on distance.

Well basically wanting to leave a car there for say 2-3 days at at time over a period of a few months

Maybe leaving a car there for up to a week at a time.

It might actually be a hire car, as a monthly rental is far far cheaper than a few day rental.

I am based in MEL but will be based out of CBR for a period of time, but will be flying back to MEL from time to time

Contractors who worked for me usually had a hire car. Getz or something similar. Hire companies also give frequent renter rebates.

The car park up near the QANTAS Link hangar is $23 a week. You walk from the terminal to the south, past the QLink hangar, and it is the multi storey on the left. When you put the ticket in to pay, you must hit the 'Weekly options' button or it charges a higher price.

I use it all the time. 5 minute walk to the terminal. PM me if you want more details.

Wow that's great :) I'll google map it out and see what I can find :)

Thanks heaps, $23 is far better for up to a week :D

I assume this is the car park Boris Spatsky is referring too.

I wish I had known about that when I lived in CBR

Yep, it's on the right there on Brindabella Circuit. I always park at the top of the picture, closest to the QLink hangar. The bottom floor is mainly under cover. Friend told me toda that the prices have been put up a few dollars since i have last been (still sub $30 a week).

Just out of interest, where in CBR are you working / staying?
I guess where I'm getting at is if your just staying here rather than moving here permanently, is getting an apartment near to work a better option than having a car?

There is a caveat that goes with that carpark. Vehicles "abandoned" after hours, which is after 2100, may be towed away. Never seen it happen in my time there working in the business park, but just saying.

Its a weekly carpark so i doubt that is the case. Where did you see that?

* Caveat I haven't been in Canberra since 2010, and I left the week the southern concourse opened.
The car park is for Brindabella Office Park workers, not airport travellers. As somebody determined to get back there, it is my solemn duty to discourage people parking there and forcing me to park down the other end. :p
I got an annual pass provided by work, and the T&C's when I was there was clearly vehicles cannot be left overnight, as they will be considered abandoned, and may be reported as such, before being towed away. I also note the carpark was not 24 hours, so the benefits afforded from a long-term carpark aren't there. That said, I knew people who left their car there without hassle. Risk manage it is all I can say.

The two-storey opposite the Brindabella Business Park at the Queanbeyan end of the runway? I did caveat that my knowledge is 3 years old.

Hmm seems it may not be an option then! :(

I don't really want to leave a car there (which will be a rental) for a few days and then come back and it's been towed :(

Neither :)

I'll be flying in/out of CBR often for leisure, sometime needing a car for 2 days, others up to a week or two.. But then returning to MEL for a few days/week here and there.

I have a long rental booked with Hertz (3 months) I might talk to the Manager there and see if I can park it in their off-site parking for the times I don't need the car..

Failing that, I'll have to fork out for the airport parking :(

It's funny when parking at MEL airport (off-site) is cheaper than Canberra!

Fair enough, in that case yes a car is required...

That would be what I'd be doing... It'd be annoying having to both be paying rental plus paying for parking for a car you where not actively using. If this is not available, would it be cheaper do to a whole lot of short term rentals and not have a car to worry about parking when you are not here? Whilst I know long term rentals are better value, if you include the costs of parking into the mix does it still make it cheaper?

Couldn't you park in the Hertz car park in the terminal? Surely you could come to an arrangement with them if you have committed to a 3 month rental?

If you get nowhere with the CBR branch manager, chat to the SYD manager, as he told me his remit covers Canberra too, so he may hold more sway. He's a good guy, PM me if you want his details.

I overnight there all the time, never been towed, and the gates open 24 hrs. Not a problem IMHO.
