Odd result CHC-SYD-CHC Apr 26

Probably has to do with "Point of commencement" availability. By searching for the return itinerary it needs to have a reward seat available on SYD-CHC with PoC NZ. While if you book one way it needs a SYD-CHC flight with PoC Australia.

Thanks. Something to bear in mind if having issues in the future.

I wonder if airlines fully understand the implications of their availability based on married segments, point of sale and point of commencement. It can be very useful in some cases for both the airlines and customers, but I see some examples where the consequences are probably unintended.

In my view the deliberate intention is to restrict availability of (classic) award seats. They will know the effects of POS and POC.

Tried booking rewards flights between CHC and SYD for Apr 26. Booked as a return no seats on QF139, booked as two one way flights, rewards seats available (and booked).

Any idea why the difference?
Was that outbound CR or CR+? Maybe something not working with mix ‘n match?

Although, CR+ is often cheaper on TT than CR during Sales…!

Anyway, it’s working further out….
