Hi,
I've just booked my first fare, one way, through the Jetstar site. The payment page - after paying the fare with an Amex card - has some odd things.

The "Booking Summary" (top right of the page) shows:
Departure total = $89
Extras total = $3.50 (credit card fee)
TOTAL = $96 (!!!!!!)

The "Confirmation Number" section (just above "Payment") shows:
Amount due at check in = $0
Amount tendered = $92.50
Balance due = $0.00

The "Payment" section shows:
Total package price = $96.00
Amount due later = $0.00
Amount due now = $3.50
Total paid = $92.50
Total amount due = $3.50

The credit card payment section is then filled in with the details I entered for payment, with the orange "Purchase" button ready to accept my payment.

The PDF itinerary appears correct, showing amount due as $92.50, amount paid $92.50.

What's going on here????

The same thing happened to me when booking a $3 ticket last week.

It kept asking me to pay an extra $7 after already paying the full cost including surcharges (albeit, the total cost was only $33 NTL-BNE-NTL).

Confirmed with my bank that only $33 was charged.

Uurgh jetstar.

I gave up on booking a weekend package with them last night - I could only get to the purchase page before the system failed to add the cost of the flights and hotel to the seat selection charges....apparently it was going to cost me -$36AUD:!:

Packed it in and booked with Virgin, no muss no fuss

@straitman - I thought that too!! I'm not thrilled about flying JQ. Unfortunately the cheapest DJ flight is $109.

Another thing I found annoying was that it wouldn't let me book one JetLite fare and one JetLite + checked bag (ie two people with only one checked bag) on the same booking. I had to do two separate bookings. Both had the $3.50 discrepancy at the end. I wonder how many people just hit 'Purchase' to pay the fee?

@GoldCoastGuy - did you choose the automatic check in option? That's the only thing I can think caused the $3.50 error (even though there is no charge listed for that option). Have you taken the flight yet? Were there any problems at the airport?

I just called Jetstar - apparently 'there are lots of problems with the booking system'.

The rep confirmed that my bookings are fully paid for and I've been charged the correct amounts.

Next issue.... what to do if we can't print out the automatic check-in boarding passes?!

Can you find an online PDF printer (I think that you can search for one on Google), print it as a PDF (digitally, not on paper), and when you can get to a printer, print it out then.

It really shouldn't take that long. Well I say that as it is inbuilt with my Mac so it is pretty easy!

@mannej: That's a good trick - I use CutePDF to print my DJ boarding passes so I can keep a copy.

This is different though - we've signed up for Auto Web Check-in:

Auto Web Check-in
At the time of making a new booking on Jetstar.com, you will be prompted to register for our auto web check-in service. If you select to auto web-check in, your boarding pass will automatically be emailed to your nominated email account on your booking, within 48 hours of your flight departure. Currently, auto web check-in is available for flights that depart up to the 15th December 2009.
I thought I was signing up for an SMS boarding pass - didn't realise until *after* I'd made the booking that I'd need access to a printer (which I won't have).

Wasn't here I read that Jetstar was promoting how it runs it IT dept with 5 people and contracts everything out.

I guess the lowest tender bid isn't always the best. haha to Jetstar.
