Odd blocked seats on AA DFW to MCO

Hi,

I grabs some flights to DFW on the 1/2 price sale. I need to book some internal flights to Orlando. Looking at the AA site I note an off pattern in the seats that are booked or unavailable (see attached) that is not present on the other flights. Also this flight is more expensive than the other times.

Are AA playing silly buggers?

Do you have status with Oneworld? The blocked seats can sometimes show that way if your status is not in the booking, but may open up once entered (Oneworld ruby and above).

I do have Qantas silver ...just lost Gold :-(
I suppose I am trying to understand what's going on with the blocked seats and why they would do that?

They're keeping the 'best' seats, windows and aisles, for status pax.

I just recreated your booking on the US website for AA. It shows all the blocked seats as per your picture. Once selecting the flight (2449) and entering in my name and QF frequent flyer number, seat selection then opened up all those 'blocked' seats.

The seats have a little white star on them 'reserved for elite members'. But available for selection for Qantas silver and above.
