Oceana LXR Santa Monica
Paid 95K Hilton Points Standard Award
Rack Rate for room type given $1K USD
First impressions were good.
Emailed by hotel a few days before asking about arrival times etc and any requests.
I came on on QF11 so asked them if I could check in early and if not shower at the gym.
Upon arrival at 0830 (25 minutes by car from LAX) they had upgraded me to a Lanai Suite and it was ready.
The suite itself was huge, very clean and well appointed and quiet as not facing Ocean. I had earlier been given a Pacific View Lanai Suite but given Flyertalk reviews on the noise I asked not to be placed on the ocean front.
Bottega Veneta toiletries, Frette towels, Loro Piana blanket.
Location is a bit of a walk (10-15 minutes) from the main part of SM, Third St Promenade etc. But I didn’t find it too onerous.
The hotel is fairly small, only 3 levels and in a former life was an apartment building where the most famous resident was Stan Laurel of Laurel and Hardy.
It has a gorgeous heated heart shaped pool, small but well equipped gym with Pelotons.
The Diamond benefit is $50 per day per room ($25 per person). Can be used at the hotel restaurant, pool, rooftop lounge.
Drinks and food are very pricey so the $50 doesn’t go far. Likewise the Spa was crazy prices so I gave it a miss.
Breakfast is a La carte except for Sunday’s which is buffet brunch. I didn’t have breakfast as I’m more a double shot macchiato kind of breakfast person.
The evening drinks on the rooftop ocean view terrace were lovely. Heaters and a fire for the colder weather.
All of the staff were friendly and approachable,
Overall a good stay and excellent use of Hilton Points. — at Oceana Hotel
