"Air New Zealand has no plans for a retrojet to celebrate its 75th anniversary, head of global brand management Jodi Williams confirms to Australian Aviation, quashing rumours that the airline was due to paint its upcoming Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in a commemorative livery."

No ‘retrojet’ for Air New Zealand | Australian Aviation

That's a shame, imagine how cool this old livery could have looked on a Boeing 787-9!

I can understand NZ's reluctance to commission a retro plane considering one of their DC10's ended up coming to grief all those years ago.

There could possibly be some negative PR attached to such a move IMO.

I am sorry but you will have people who will draw the link (hence why SQ withdrew the Megatop livery). That in itself is life, nothing to get rubbished over.

Why do retro paint when they take you to a retro destination :D [ducks]
