Looking for some restaurant recommendations in NYC. This is not a first time visit and I have eaten at a few places when there for work with local work colleagues, mostly in Midtown. Most were pretty casual, some were good, some not so good and paid no attention to what they were called. MrsM and I are heading back to NYC for around seven days in April this time without MissM in tow.

Other information - we both like good food but neither of us could be considered foodies. I will eat just about anything, MrsM is more on the vegetarian side and will eat chicken or fish. Budget is not a big consideration but I do not need to go overboard. Accommodation is in downtown but this may change. Some suggestions that have been put forward include: Daniels, Eleven Madison Park, Gramercy Tavern, Le Bernardin, Contra. Also interested in other more casual dining options for lunch or dinner, restaurants that can bring out the best natural flavours of the ingredients is more important than bling.

We have no firm plans for the week other than MrsM wants to go back to the Met and visit Sleepy Hollow.

Edit: I am more of a jeans and shirt individual so anyplace that requires a jacket and tie is most likely off the list as I do not plan on taking these.

@ozfflyer thanks, we have had the opportunity to dine at the boathouse, then rowed MrsM and MissM around the pond to burn off some some of the calories I had just consumed. :)

Where to begin - it's all in the trip reports, hundreds of photos! Take your pick.

Specials...

River Cafe
Balthazar
Del Posto
EMP
Any NYC Pizza
Heaps more....

FWIW, Gramercy Tavern was a little disappointing.

Big tip - try and and stay a few nights at The Point (Saranac Lake), you will not regret it.

The hotel restaurant at the Renaissance over looks Times Square and the view is amazing. Can’t remember what the food was like, but would do it again!

We’re definitely not foodies! We also like the Spotted Pig but that wasn’t on our last year’s trip.

Last year we enjoyed Artichoke Pizza, cafeteria, The Custom House (Brooklyn), Jack’s Wife Freda and Co Ba.

We also went to Drunk Shakespeare. No food, plenty of drink. Booked through rush49 for bargain.

I can't recommend los tacos #1 in chelsea market enough. There are also other great spots in there also but los taco's is my favourite

The grand central oyster bar is worth a look, they do a great chowder. Also check out Somebody feed Phil- NYC episode and ugly delicious by David Chang (both on netflix)- they both cover great spots in NYC
