What's the best number to use to book a DCIRC22 through AA Australia?

I called 1 800 673 486 (In Australia) and I've been onhold to AA India for 15mins listening to instructions on how to enter New Delhi airport and directing me to americanairlines.in...

I'm somewhat willing to call the USA if required, but I'd rather not.

Thanks. :)

<grumble> After being on hold they tell me I should EMAIL my booking request in to [email protected] and they'll get back to me in 48hours...

There has to be a better way...

Phone the Around the World desk at +1 800 247 3247

If you use skype ( or another VOIP service ) the call will be free

Thanks for the tip regarding Skype - I didn't realize you can call USA 1800 numbers without any credit in SkypeOut - So these calls are really free.

Alas, they're closed right now.

FYI: Skype worked _BRILLIANTLY_. The call quality was perfect.

The AA RTW desk answered instantly and were very helpful.

Good to hear

Managed to get the desired itinerary booked all ok?

Mostly - I've had to waitlist on a SIN-PER flight which has changed to D0 J9 but I've rerouted via HKG until that clears, so it's much the same except a slight downgrade in seating. It's a day flight and I've never been on CX or been to HKG so I guess it's ok. ;)

Well this is fun... I called AA RTW desk this morning to pay - They state that I can ONLY pay with a US Credit Card and if I don't have one i'll need to call Qantas with the booking reference and they'll ticket it. Grr. If that was the case I would have done that in the first place! I asked them to check and after a while on hold that was the final answer..

So I called the AA Australia number, give them the reference and they say they can take payment, however they're now telling me the fare is $41k! The fare was priced by the RTW desk as $16k. She assures me the price is correct but will send it off to be reassessed. She also refused to send me a CC authority form until the price was confirmed. (Don't worry, i won't be sending it back for a $41k fare!)

What a pain in the butt. :|

Chrisb.

Ps. This is a DCIRC22 originating in Australia, priced in AUD.

A DCIR22 ex-Australia does not cost A$16K. The base fare is A$7599, then add taxes and charges, which for AA I would expect to be around $200-$400 for a DCIR22 depending on the routing. So unless that A$16K is for two tickets, I suggest you ask again for a quote.

Yeah, sorry the $16k was for 2 people. Last week AA quoted an all up price of AUD$8034pp inc tax.

I'm fine with that price - it was the revised $41k (for 2 people) that upset me. :)

Yes, that sounds like the right price.

They have lost the fare basis of DCIR22 and priced it as a sequence of one-way business class fares.

I too had some pricing problems when I was trying to organise my DCIR29 - whatever you do, don't call the Australian AA desk that is outsourced to India. They couldn't handle any queries I had and initially sent it away for pricing as DONEx fare when I specifically requested cir pac! After two weeks of toing and froing - mainly me calling up to check if pricing had been done (no, call back 2-3 hrs, I call back - no, call back tomorrow, sorry let me check with the "department", they are not there can you call back 2-3hours ... talk about frustrating)

Make sure you get AA atw desk to handle the flight bookings and pricing, then for payment just call up the local AA agent (which probably is the India desk) and say you would like to pay for your ticket. The price quoted by AA atw should be "attached" to your reservation so there should not be any discrepancy.

Good luck!
