if you are flying without the benefit of an angled or flat bed, select a bulkhead seat and use your cabin bag (after take-off) as a footrest. A standard international sized rolla-board will give you a resting surface almost level with the seat pan and allows a full flat horizontal surface for your lower half.

I've seen that technique employed in an exit row .. but (most) Y bulkheads ? You must have very short legs.

My tip is a spare credit card in the suitcase .. if not in your wallet as well.

I needed the second one in the wallet at LAX recently when the first card didn't work at the only ATM in TBIT arrivals. I've gotten so used to not getting cash until arriving that it had me worried for a bit (I think I had $20 in US cash in my pocket). The first card was fine for the rest of the trip, and had previously worked all round the world. But not TBIT .. who'd have thunk it ?

I based them ex-Budapest, Jakarta, Seoul, Johannesburg, Auckland at different points. It is a bit less relevant now with the Aussie dollar back to earth but while it was peaking and those currencies were tanking, rtw business fares were just as cheap from some of them as rtw economy fares from here.
