Gday guys im flying from cns to nrt for a few weeks jetstar business (return) then onto lax and canada for 2x months (singapore business) anyone got some good tips/tricks to maximise points and freebies ? :) saved like an idiot for 3x yrs just to get this far so hoping to get max return for what ive spend.Im a member of qff (10000 points),krisflyer, and velocity (30000 points) somehow i also need to get myself back to perth from cns :P
Also with a singapore business ticket can i get a guest into the lounges if theyre flying same flights but economy?

Happy to look at either but just used all my virgin points the other day, did see a special on singapore air website worked out at $3100 aus return from per-lax via nrt, was hoping to do the longer stints in business but not at $6000+ aud :(.Just flew jetstar economy to qld was bloody terrible for a 6.0ft guy like myself prefer to steer clear of them.

Guesting into lounges is usually a perk of *A/airline status... not Biz class travel...

IIRC on SQ no guest for Biz class pax either..

Too bad the classic SQ Biz fare MNL-YVR got pulled (finally..) That would have been a possible option...:(

As an update to this my travel companion is having surgery at the moment so looks like flights will be bumped to around 15 jan till 25th mar,Suggestions for business class on longer haul routes greatly appreciated just trying to package together a compromise between comfort and price. It seems any business class ex per is way too expensive weve set budgets at $5000 max for flights each

Look at buying from Taipei if you're not committed to Japan yet. Many good deals in J to be had from there. I just got a TPE-HKG-ORD for AU$3,700 return.

Thanks for that v8!!! did u buy using zuji/kayak etc? and if you dont mind me asking which airline will you be using? im not sure if flying into lax is the best option both my partner and i are looking at seeing the u.s and canada for approx 2-3 months and hoping to see japan :).Also just noticed your in perth are you flying from PER to TPE economy?

This trip is CX. I also do AA via aa.com to many destinations in the 48 states at a good price (2 stops, 1 in each direction allowed.

I also by TPE-PER in J on CX and keep the return sector. That is around $2,100-$2,400 depending on what base fare CX load (I've noticed it goes up and down)

This current return (next month) is a multi flight dream (or nightmare depending on how you look at it) TPE-HKG-SIN (and return) in J for about $400. Then YEE1YSG on QF stock (full fare Economy) SIN-PER-BNE-TSV-BNE-PER-SIN for $2,400.

Great flexibility and Y bucket for cheap upgrades and WP guaranteed seat.

Wow thats a big flight :) this information is extremely handy in trying to organise our trip obviously if we can save on airfares we will have more play money :) im finding using kayak etc alot of flights from PER in economy and busines to TPE are quite expensive, will take both respondents information onboard :) much appreciated

Getting to TPE will be a positioning flight.

Another way to get cheap J from NRT to USA and back is via Aawards. You can get 60000 AA miles + 30000 bonus miles for $US1650 at the moment.A saver award is 25000 in Y,50000 in J or 62500 in F.Taxes are very low-for my F award next year NRT-BOS my taxes were $2.60.
So if you bought the max now and 10000 in Jan you could get both ways in J.J saver awards NRT-LAX are still available 6 days in December.Coming back Y and F savers are available virtually every day J every Tues-thursday.
