If we ever arrange an AFF group flight.


Back on topic: I have noticed other dates where A330s flying between Sydney and Melbourne... and very cheaply too. Early June has another one (sat Mel - Syd) - this might be an opportunity for those who miss it in May to try the new on-board service, with the new livery on new aircraft without forking out transcontinental fares?

Just a thought...

Just had an idea, as these Sat evening A330 changeover flights would not be that busy, perhaps a AFF group flight could be arranged....?

One way on a refurbished 737 and the other way on the A330, with a lounge visit in between the flights.

Maybe one of the "Authenticated Company Reps" could give us a quote?

Who's interested?......would beat the usual Flyertalk QF mobs lounge meetings. :cool:
 
Well they are advertising the A330 which hasn't actually been signed off yet and all over the Virgin Australia site it says:
"Important Information: Please note that flights on Airbus A330 aircraft are subject to regulatory approval."

So it seems they can announce things, if they want too, even when a product hasn't been delivered (A330 for example which we have known about for sometime)

Although on the whole I agree with you as well (to avoid disappointment), to say they are waiting for everything to be finalised is not true.

Yes, agreed, i wasn't actually arguing that only that inherently has to be a staged process. It's impossible to introduce a new type into the fleet (train crews get it approved and on the AOC etc) without giving it away - not to mention the obligation to disclose it to the market. They've also announced several things today that you can't buy yet: 737 business class being the obvious example.

However, the larger point is that there's a lot of good reasons why you wouldn't announce everything in detail and then progressively roll it out over two years - no matter how much that would satisfy our curiosity.
 
Well I think they've done a fine job of rolling out the new product. Frankly I can't begin to imagine how much work has gone into this - from planning, developing, testing and delivery. Of course there will be hiccups, and you certainly can't please all of the people all of the time. But overall this has been handled very well and I for one am impressed and excited about all the new changes.

Well Misha and myself are flying on the A330 on 28th May. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join. We did create a seperate thread in the meetings section. If we could get a fair few, it would be quite an enjoyable time. :)

I think it's June 4th that it flies again... so soon after our first flight... if we enjoy it - may even do it again :)

I believe there is some other even on while we do that.

But some other time, it would be really great if 10-20 of us went and tried the new product. Maybe one of the Virgin Reps could advise? :D
 
I like the looks of the 737 pictures that were shown earlier - very Virgin America-esque, which can only be a good thing.

The bulkhead row surely could be sold as main cabin select; or at least reserved for Golds.

I think it's good news. As they say....a change is as good as a holiday.

What I really like is a move back toward good old competition, with VAA looking after their routes with 1 plane, rather than the codeshare dramas of Qantas/Jetstar. I made the shift across to DJ after booking a Qantas flight through bleary, tired eyes, only to turn up at check-in to be directed to the check-in lines out the door at Jetstar counters......bugger, never noticed that codeshare! No food, no luggage, no points, no problem, DJ here I come and patience has paid dividends.

BRING ON Velocity revamp and an OOL lounge (but please remember us loyal converts :D)

Well done VAA. The new livery is growing on me. The rest is superb.

Has anyone seen anything rebadged at airports yet? Any pics?

Can the A 330 "Cable Beach" ever visit BME?

Hi all,

I must be one of the few that like the new paint job for Virgin Australia.
Having visited and stayed at Cable Beach the BME airport is vey small.

Any chance of "Cable Beach" the Airbus A 330 to visit the place she was named after?

Or even fly over it? Little chance I would think?

Loving the 737 interior with the mood lighting! :mrgreen: And as for the IFE on the 737, photo 21 has this as the caption:
No seatback videos (yet) in the new Virgin Australia domestic economy class - but ceo John Borghetti said something better is in the wings for inflight entertainment.

ausbt just posted a whole tonne of 738 interior images.

With regards to the 1st row of Y that a few of us noted looked rather roomy, in one of the pics you can clearly see someone (in a black coat) standing in front of this row, and there not even close to being near the seat base. it looks like it has a good 40"+ pitch.. the exit row seat also looks to offer a good 37-38" pitch (the guy sitting in the exit row is the same chap sitting in J for comparison.
