Now You're Flying Virgin Australia

Sure there will be J class seats but I'm still seeing "Go"fares with no baggage etc and paid for meals so what I am seeing is Jetstar * class in a domestic environment,I've flown Virgin many times and been very happy with the service and I'm keen to try the new 738 with the sky interior but what is there in the new V australia that sets it apart from V Blue and what am I going to get for my fare if not included luggage and a sandwich at least?

It is true that Virgin Australia are looking to capture some of the Business travel market, however as they have mentioned before (Can't recall if it was on AFF or Twitter, pretty sure it was AFF) leisure travellers are still an important part of their market.

The cheaper fares offer choice IMO, if you don't want a bag and a meal, why should you have to pay for it? I'll but money on it that even some business travellers sometimes travel on the cheap fares (ie. Day hops that don't require bags, or short flights where they don't need to eat for whatever reason).

Its good to see that they just didn't jack up the prices up sky high and completly lock out the leisure market, after all, that was why Virgin Blue came to Australia, to make it possible for all Australians to fly.

yeah, thought we would slip that in to try to keep lovestotravel happy

Good luck with that!

Rebranding, introducing business class, adding new types to the fleet, rebooting the FF program and tackling QF are all a breeze by comparison. :)

Always has done. When I joined this forum it was the common way for members to refer to us. My mission was to change that.

I think mission is well and truly accomplished.

Obviously it was years ago, but now with this new development - DJ (VA?) can really stick it to them! :)

actually looks much better than that photo suggests - wait till you see whole cabin with divider.

I recall from @AusBT's tweets that JB was going to mention something about changes to IFE, but don't seem to have found anything in the materials.

Did anyone catch anything related to IFE? Any chance we'll finally see some RED action?

No announcement today. But a major revamp is coming soon. Remains to be seen what it will involve.

Congrats to the Virgin Australia crew on a successful launch!

The livery looks fantastic. I appreciate the understated colour palette - it's makes the Virgin branding pop on the tail, and it's something that will stand the test of time. Was it created by an in-house design team, or did you outsource?

I also love the advert. Classy but accessible.

Interesting that nothing has been settled on for IFE. They can do no wrong with Red as far as I'm concerned, but if there are intentions of improving on that then who am I to argue?

Here's hoping that the website takes close form to that the Virgin America site.

Now it's a matter of passing the days until the Velocity relaunch. That's the big one for me!

Actually the only real tangible changes are the introduction of J and the kerbside lounge entry (which I think is a great idea). Most people dont give a stuff about the aircraft type unless it determines the seat.

I havent seen a revamp of the FF program - did I miss that?

I would be interested to understand what real difference there will be flying the SYD-MEL commute in whY. At the moment I can't see any benefit flying DJ over QF on that route in whY.

Ok fair point but take me as an example, there is a possibility I may have to travel to Sydney next week for a meeting,so this morning I did some research on fares,my options are QF at $116 with FF points and refreshments (Yes I know it's only coffee and a biscuit) plus baggage allowance included or DJ at $108.00 plus $12.00 for baggage=$120.00.,why would I choose DJ over QF in that situation when DJ isn't cheaper?
As I said in my post I have travelled with DJ many times (Yes sometimes I want a cheap fare and not bothered about bags.meals etc) and I will fly with them again, but I really want some reason to choose DJ over QF and at the moment I can't see one, which is a real shame.
Cheers

Well the company that I work for prefer DJ over QF even if DJ is a little bit more expensive because when the company cancels a DJ confirmed booking, the credit goes back to the company account allowing another person within the company to use the credit for future flights. Whereas QF only allows credit back to the person who was booked originally. Therefore they prefer DJ over QF on this flexibility reason.

What a fantastic ad. Trumps QF over the years!

DJ seems Fresh, Vibrant and look eager to succeed in all aspects.

Thumbs up for DJ for making progress.

All l'm looking for is a few more alliances (arhh, hmm, ((STAR))...) and a decent Frequent Flyer Program, and l'm there. QF redemption rates are a total rip off (which is a well known fact). Keep it up DJ and the grass will seem greener on the other side very soon...
