If a relo gives me their share if the 90K pts, could I then book a ret fare?

they can. They would just make the booking on-line from their account, in your name.

As with all FF programs, the sale or bartering of award miles is not allowed. No one knows for certain the triggers for an account investigation, but lots of new accounts opened, with no history, and used to purchase tickets in a name different from the account holder might be some of the criteria. US Air has done this in the past. (Unless there are a lot of very generous people out there! :))

For those late starters it's only just gone 28th Feb in LA. So probably still time to take advantage of the 50% bonus offer

Wise words indeed. It could be a very expensive mistake if not done above board.

Now.. now.. Would you happen to have some share interest in AA Major? :p
The overall investment campaign, even with the AFF contingents must have yielded AA with several million dollars in extra & (much needed) capital.
I would stake some more investment in additional AA points, though my existing points strategy funding has been temporarily constrained. :(
Thank you kindly for the timely reminder though. ;)

Urrrgh I had decided to pass on this offer, since the coffers are a little low thanks to a big trip next month. But .... the value! ... can't ... go past ...

Don't worry k_sheep, I so want to buy as well!! But have a big trip planned in July to Europe (First class through USDM, woohoo!) but have had to battle with myself not to 'invest' in this promo.

don't worry too much :) AA awards are great value for oneworld, but availability is a major issue that is not there with USDM (who arguably offer a better deal with flexibility of routing, cost, and stopovers)

Actually yes. 80,000 AA miles first class on QF9 Mel-xDXB-LHR then BA LHR-VNC (venice?). I still find it crazy but looking forward to it! Of course at some stage I'm going to have to book a paid flight home... :). Economy is like 45,000, Business is 65,000 or so and First is 80,000. Insane value compared to QFF redemptions.

It's amazing what some research can do (and some luck with availability).

yeah you have to be lucky with availability but I did the same thing a couple of months ago and will be coming home from London first class. (then business class mel-cbr)

I also got CBR-xSYD-LAX-MCO for 37.5K points economy and MCO-ORD-JFK-LHR for 20K points in economy.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

They don't actually have to give you their points, they can just book a flight in your name using their points.

(I do suggest your relative is a real person - whether or not they know they have just spent nearly two grand on points or not!!)

SWP stands I think for South-Western Pacific. Anyway includes Australia and NZ and a few other islandy places around the place.

I'll post the link in a moment (need one more post!)

Yeah and it doesn't matter where in AUS or NZ you start from.

This is where there is still great value for economy flights. If you use it for SYD - LAX in economy you are probably not getting great value, but it is the same 37.5K points if you are flying from Perth to Miami, which obviously would be must more expensive for a paid fare.

Decisions decisions. Assuming I can't find syd-nyc ... would it be hard to get a CX award in J/F for 2 pax? And is it 62.5k/72.5k respectively?

for cx from Australia to the USA it will be two awards, so 35k (business class) to Asia plus 67k to the USA. double for a return.

Just one more very newbie question, it's more related to QF Chauffeur Drive. Will I be eligible for this service if booking F awards via AA, looking at SYD-LHR and CDG-LHR-SYD, flying QF1/2, for an end of year trip? And if yes, is the service available for both SYD, LON and not the service at Paris.

You will be eligible to use it at SYD, LHR only.
