By Novotel BKK APT I assume you mean the Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel?

The hotel is rather new and decent from what I have seen in the lobby but Suvarnabhumi Airport itself is in the middle of nowhere so unless you're only transiting for the night why stay here??

The Novotel Lotus on the other hand is a nice old school (4 star) hotel in the middle of downtown Sukhumvit close to shops, skytrain, etc and a good rate can always be had.

This is a good hotel, I have used it many times transiting over night, with an early flight the next day. The city is too far away (at least40mins) to bother staying for a transit.

I have found it usually cheaper to book through Expedia or other discount sites rather than the hotel's site.

Ammenities are the same as other hotels with pool, gym business centre etc.

When arriving, go to exit door number 4, and there is a hotel rep there to get you in the 2min shuttle to the hotel. It is quite difficult to walk there even though it is just on the other side of the carpark.

If you are just looking for a cheap transit hotel, I can say the Siam Piman is close by & does the job.

Overpriced. Why stay there even for an overnight transit? Much better to head off into town and take a pick of the many hotels on offer with most of them less than half an hour away. Even the Quality Suites Hotel near the old Don Muang airport is less than half an hour from Suvarnabhumi airport.

Can't wait for the Skytrain link to be completed. It is rumoured it will be ready sometime in 2009. Time will tell. After all this is Thailand.

The Skytrain link will be great but when the taxi's are so cheap I don't think I'll be heading to the Skytrain station at 11.30pm+ after coming in on the QF or BA flights from Sydney!
