Just wondering if anyone has had success in getting points by using the AmpolCard at EG Woolworths?

I think I read that the 4c fuel discount is definitely out if using the fuel card (and not using own credit card and seeking reimbursement later).

My partner is just starting a new novated leasing arrangement.

My advice re novated leasing is to pay for everything yourself (including fuel, servicing, etc.) using your own credit card, for the points, discounts, etc., and just submit the receipts to your NL company. They refund you the full cost of what you've spent, but only deduct the amount less GST from your lease account, so you don't lose out on any of the tax benefits (although it is important to get a GST receipt of course, but that's a small hassle imo). I've never used any of the stack of fuel cards they send me.

As for linking them, I read a few years back that the BP fuel card could be linked somehow to earn Qantas points eventually, but in general I understand it's a no.

100% agree. I've been doing this for more than decade with my various novated leases. Much more advantageous using your own payment methods vis a vis using their fuel card(s).

Except this Autopia is not particularly friendly with reimbursing own expenses.

Just an update on my original post. Even if there's no discount voucher on the WW card, you can't use it with the Ampol card at EG.

Hmm fair enough I suppose it does very much depend on the company. FWIW I’ve only used SG Fleet and NLC (and the latter have been incorporated into SG anyway now I think).

FWIW, I use Autopia and have zero issues getting fuel costs reimbursed when I purchase using my own credit card (which is basically 100% of my fuel ups).

That's interesting. The rep said to only do it when there's no Ampol around

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

They say that, but they don’t reject claims.
Agreed. The main “advantage” to using the supplied fuel cards is that a) you aren’t out of pocket when paying for fuel and b) it technically makes it easier for them (leasing company) to track and forecast your spend and mileage to better know whether you’re over/under spending vs your current leasing arrangement.

There’s absolutely no reason why you can’t pay for your own fuel first and then claim it back.

Exactly this. I don’t even submit odo readings since the ATO don’t require it any more, I get reminders in my online account, but it’s never been an issue.

My mileage is so much lower still since COVID I’m overpaying into the lease account by a fair bit so they’re not concerned about my balance though. My last lease ended at the height of the pandemic, and the balance paid out the final cost of the car (almost, if it wasn’t for the income tax when it was repaid, that was painful).
