Not very happy with SQ right now. Was waitlisted for a points upgrade from economy to PE two weeks ago for my flight last night from delhi to Singapore. Four days out no word from SQ so I called and they said they would push the request for me. Day of departure still no word from SQ. I had a prior domestic flight but instead of collecting my boarding pass for the next flight (Delhi to Singapore) I instead said that I would go through the hassle of exiting immigration in Delhi and then walk to the departure hall, wait another 3 hours for checkin to open and then try my luck one last time at the checkin desk (I really hate Y flights through the night). When I got to the checkin I mentioned that I was waitlisted and asked if there were any seats available. I was told that SQ were running a promo and I could upgrade to PE for $200 or 14,000 miles. I heard them making the same offer to others at checkin. Obviously I took the offer and got the upgrade but even once on board there were still empty seats in PE. To say I was annoyed is an understatement because I had been waitlisted for two weeks, am a KFEG, followed up and if I had checked in for all my flights at the beginning of the trip home then I would have not got the upgrade while SQ were offering them to everyone else at checkin. Makes me wonder what the point of a waitlist is and how often this happens.
