I wouldn't know who to ask but these flights are still not available for sale through the QF website and still going through JNB. What is going on?
I made by fortnightly call to QANTAS last night as I was also getting inconsistent results across sites. I'm trying to book CNS - NBO and do not want to go through Jo'burg. The agent told me the following:
1. You can now book to Cairo on Qantas via Dubai. The price was still just over $3000, but better than $5000 which is what they could previously quote to Africa.
2. With regard to Nairobi, QF *could* be trying to protect the revenue of the Kenyan airways JHB - NBO flight. When I challenged this saying that they are eliminating northern hemisphere routes, he said that they still can book the BKK flight to NBO on Kenyan airways (this contradicts previous advice I received regarding that flight)
3. QF have folks working 'feverishly' around the clock to sort out the arrangements. He said this twice.
Point 2 above has totally discouraged me as I have watched the price of the flight via Jo'burg continue to rise over the past couple of months. I'm really hoping that point 3 above trumps it.
Another interesting thing to note is that if you book using points, you can get the routing from CNS to NBO via Dubai. However, they cannot sell me that route without charging the full fare and the QF website won't even bring up that option when searching for paid flights. I really don't want to use points as I need this trip to maintain my status.
The agent definitely gave me the impression to hang in there and wait it out, but of course couldn't use those exact words.
SO I would take this as meaning point 3 and your last sentence applies.
No. I am booked to fly on EK783 early next month, definately no QF number on that one and I dont think there is a QF number for the later flight either. Is there a QF codeshare to Lagos?

I checked the official QF route map(Route Maps | Qantas) and it shows only two ex-DXB African distinations (ACC and NBO) - neither of which are marked as codeshares (in green) but rather as "Other Airline" in grey

Indeed, I grabed a copy of the March and the April magazines so that I had a comparison of the route changes and yes, in the April (and May) magazine it is green DXB-NBO - but the online map doesnt represent that at all - the 'other airline' is EK btw, but the grey colouring indicates to me that there is no codeshare on those routes despite me knowing that there is on DXB-ACC at least. On EF, I can see DXB-AXX-ABJ with QF numbers, but not DXB-NBO or DXB-DAR or DXB-DKR or any other DXB African combinations I can think of...Cheers dot. Interesting re the route map as I picked up a QF mag on the 1st April and all African destinations were green for EK. I wonder who this 'other airline' is that flies from Dubai to Nairobi?
Of course not - the greed of FFs should know no bounds when it comes to salesConducted another check this evening and would you believe it QF codes have appeared to Nairobi!!
No 'Business Saver' fares available with QF codes between DXB and NBO but 'Business' fares available and generally around $200 less with a QF code as opposed to an EK code. I'm not convinced about the $9.5k per person fare though.
Now I want to see 'Business Sale' fares appear. Am I asking for too much?
