Just read a post on fb from a friend who is (was) a Norwegian 787 captain that he’s been made redundant. Norwegian are dropping all long distance routes and the 787s and their crew are no longer required. The writing was on the wall but sad to see it confirmed

Sad but inevitable. Norwegian was losing money on their long-haul operations for years - and that was before covid.

I would not be surprised if AirAsia group follows Norwegian and Virgin Australia into closing their "long haul" subsidiaries (AirAsia X) to concentrate mostly on Domestic (Malaysia) and Short Haul International with their A320ceos/neos and using the A321neos for Medium Haul into Australia and Japan (replacing the A330s).
