Normal Lounge food

MEL J lounge has had the Thai chicken curry and green soup for over 2 weeks now :(

CBR J lounge has the chicken parma and mash this week, I may have managed to eat 5 of the parmas..

That said it's about 10000000 times better than the Virgin lounge :)

Perfect!

I might have to send more feedback for party pies to make an appearance in lounges more often. Most of the time I have no idea what food they are serving so do not touch it.

I still have scars from the molten meat that spewed from a party pie onto my hand at the BNE QP a few years ago. No doubt straight from the microwave.

I may have broken the lounges standards of behaviour with some loose language.

Must be the timing, but I haven't ever seen that in the MEL J lounge. I often see the cantonese chicken and more recently the beef stew.

Happens to me as well.

The trick with those party pies is to open them at the top for a minute or so. Cools down much quicker.

The QF J lounge chef clearly get stuck in a rut from time to time. I enjoyed the Thai chicken curry in MEL last week, but I did only have it once.
My most common meal in the J lounge is breakfast and I was aghast last week when the baked egg benny was not available in BNE. Fortunately I had a lunch at the Sydney F lounge so salve that shock.

Why do they insist on making it so difficult to make yourself a simple sandwich?
Ham, Cheese and Lettuce is probably good enough for me.

Usually they give you just shy of enough ingredients. Lately I noticed ham was replaced with Salami.

The "comfort" food is not much of a snack and no doubt unhealthy.

I've encountered the green chicken curry in MEL J for quite some time now. It's kind of like the domestic version of salt and pepper squid in the F lounge: always there and a familiar and comforting dinner when Mrs 340 and I are connecting through to ADL from NZ. I'm usually doing that journey on a Sunday so perhaps it's the go-to weekend meal for catering in MEL? I'm quite happy with it to be honest.

I have hit the trifecta today

BNE - Shanghai chicken (was quite OK and from memory first time I have seen it)
SYD - Italian style meatballs
MEL - Chicken parmigiana with butter mash

No need for dinner in LST tonight. ;)

Sorry to hijack your thread - however I was wondering what an example of hot food for the QF BNE domestic business lounge would be on a Sunday night. I'm putting in a complaint to VA about the cough and would like to suggest they get up to at least QF J standard.
Thanks :)

I'm not sure but the va lounge in adl had pea and ham soup last night. Good. And I made a ham, cheese and tomato toastie, with the semi-spicy relish. It was pretty good.

Until the Australian lounges introduce the environmentally friendly magic of the Japanese beer dispenser with the tilt mechanism to ensure a quality pour (better to reuse glasses than recycle bottles), all Australian lounges are officially lacklustre, no matter how good the food is.

Last night was Shanghai Chicken. Looks to have just been included in the rotation

The week before was braised Chicken with rice.

Please bring back Havana Club Gold.

It was on at the MEL lounge in Feb. Since Feb I have been to Brisbane/Sydney (both domestic and International as well as Hong Kong) and they have Bundy (appleton in HKG).

Please QF !!!

Where's the hot food gone from the ADL QP ? Here right now and there's only the cold stuff and a soup

Serious? I hope they bring bundy back in Melb.

I really miss party pies.

Empanadas and the other sort of "gourmet food" on offer does nothing for me.

I had a couple of tablespoons of yoghurt this morning. I am starving and had some salady items. Still starving. :(

Can Red Roo comment on what goes in to the QF (and QF J/F lounges) menu planning ? Are the chefs required to maintain a certain level of "healthy" food available, interspersed with some tasty comfort food ? Menu items that can sustain for a decent timeframe without spoiling (even just starting to look less than appealing).

I can presume that cost is a major factor, but having worked in the industry eliminating waste is a major part of cost reduction in a buffet situation.

It is all good and well to have a food wishlist but QF needs to consider the bottom line - particularly with all of us going there so frequently !
