Noosa and Palm Cove accommodation and sightseeing

Can you recommend five star accommodation in Noosa and Palm Cove. I know the Sofitel in Noosa is a favourite but I have heard negative reports. Any other choices. Also what touring/sightseeing possibilities would you recommend? Thanks for your input.
