Nok Air (Asian budget airline)

Hi

I am about to book a oneway fare from coughet to Bangkok on the budget airline Nok Air. Has anybody flown with them? What are they like?? For about A$80 you can fly Nok Plus (which is like a business class) that gives you larger seats and 30 kg baggage (its only $20 more than economy)

Any info about Nok Air would be appreciated. Please email replies to [email protected] as I don't come in here a lot.

They're pretty good. Partly owned by TG and they operate former TG 737's and ATR's (hence "Nok Plus" is in the TG business class seats).

Personally, i'd pay the extra and fly Bangkok Airways over them, however if you're after a LCC they're better than Air Asia and One-Two-Go

do you know the contact address or email for nokair - I want to book for December but their onlone booking only goes intil October.

I want to fly Nokplus becaue they give 30 kg luggage and I hve heard all the others (including Thai) only give 15 kg for domestic flights.

Do you know if this is correct ???

Hi, only contact I know of is the phone no +662 900 9955.

The LCC's (Air Asia, One-Two-Go) only give you 15kg and they're very strict. Bangkok Airways and Thai has a limit of 20kg (you can join the Bangkok Air frequent flyer program for free and it will become 30kg). That said, I've checked 40kg on both PG & TG before and never been charged any extra.

They probably havent sorted schedules for past Oct yet so you'll have to wait until then before booking.

Can be more strict is probably the operative word. Recently on Tiger my wife & I were very careful to remain under the allowance as we'd read that they had a zero tolerance policy on excess baggage. When we boarded the flight was actually delayed by nearly an hour because people had brought on so much cabin luggage that there wasn't enough room to stow it all. Admittedly this was boarding in China so the ground staff weren't exactly the most attentive but it goes to show. Air Asia can be similar - in all the times I've used them I've never seen cabin luggage checked for weight or dimensions and I've seen some shockers get taken on board.

Flown Nok a few times between BKK and HKT. Very impressed. Always departed on time or within 10 minutes of schedule time. Save quite a bit compared to Thai, yet it is a Thai plane with just the outside repainted.

Wouldn't really pay extra for Nok Plus, even though it is only THB500 more. The seats are wide, but the leg room looks the same as economy, and the flight is only 1 hour anyway, so can forgo the free drink. Actually to buy drinks in Economy is cheap anyway... only THB20.

Nok is more expensive than Air Asia but I think it is worth for the fact that you are most unlikely to be delayed for hours (like Air Asia) and Thai part owns Nok, so you would hope that maintenance and pilot training etc. would be high quality.
