Noise-cancelling headphones

I purchased SONY - Australia these and i have found that they are brilliant for the money - i of course picked them up a bit cheaper than the quoted price but that was a benefit of dealing with the same poeple... They have lasted the last 3 months of plane trips which included a trip to rome and back, flat out the whole way. They work without the battery and i find that only after about 10 hrs they get uncomfortable and considering most of my travelling is domestic and i hardly ever go to BNE or PER its not an issue...

I bought the same one, in the white colour, a couple of months ago. It has worked very well, cancels alot of external noise and after flight tested it for a bit more than 20,000miles, I can say I am very content with this product.

I also prefer in-ear headphones over over-ear or outer-ear headphones due to the space difference it takes.

However in terms of price, I bought mine for $99USD from the Sony Store in The Forum Shops at Ceasers Palace, Las Vegas.

Left my Sennheiser PXC-250's on a flight before christmas. Was hoping someone would have handed them in as my boarding pass was in the carry case, not to be. Have purchased PXC-300's through a mob from the US on ebay. Total cost AUD $159.00.

Likewise with all domestic - the exception being a flight from FCO to HKK... damn those 9mm sockets!

You got the same ones as I have. They are good value for money as you mentioned. Batteries last a long time too - I used it on my last trip to Europe - one the plane as well as in the hotel room to listen to some music. Battery lasts ages too.

I purchased a set of non-NC Bose on-ear headphones a few months ago and have found them brilliant (Bose® Australia ).

Not a big fan of the QC2/3's because:
1) Expensive
2) Re-chargeable proprietary battery
3) Don't work without NC (i.e. if battery is dead)
4) Non-foldable (this was my biggest concern)
5) I used them on a DFW-CDG flight. Good, but not worth the money over the On-Ears.

However, I just replaced them today, with these Sony MDR-NC40 'phones:

$40USD (rrp is $249AUD), folding (much smaller than my Bose ones), iPhone 1st Gen-compliant plug, included airline adapter, 1xAAA battery, and they work without the NC functionality! Best of all, the sound actually really surprised me! I wasn't expecting much (being Sony's), but they're excellent. As good (if not better) than my Bose headphones, sound-quality wise...and they have NC. The case has space for the adapter + a spare AAA battery too - well thought-out.

The best NC headphones I've ever tried are those big black Sony digital ones, but @ $600AUD...a little too pricey (and chunky).
