Just tried to book a flight for June 05 to USA/LON/ITALY but no way home from europe/London to Perth anytime in July or August for that matter.

I understand this is Peak season, but how many seats are reseverd for Qantas FF holders?

Cheers

Have you just looked on the Qantas website for dates or have you rang the 131313 number to see whats available, I have had the same problem but when you ring Qantas they are able to book you on any of the One World Alliance partners on almost any route subject to availability.

No Way Home..

Called Qantas no way home using One World, not even cathy pacific out of HK....They say that something might open up with luck.

will try again this week...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

i could atleast concur with how busy it is during july when trying to book flights using FF points.

i booked 2 X business class tickets on FF points from sydney to shannon via mumbai and london with mumbai to london leg in BA's WTP class instead of business. *sob*

paid own way from shannon to london in coach and also had to do a seperate FF booking with alitalia between london and rome.

on the going home trip, we start from milan, to london, to tokyo, to cairns, to brisbane and finally home to sydney.

we've also had cut short of the trip by 2 days as there were zero available FF seats between london and sydney during the third weekend of july 2005.

while on the phone with qantas ff ppl, we tried every one world airline like you, even looked at coming home via the US at one stage.

one thing i noticed while on the phone with qantas FF a few time when trying to make this booking, i've had to prompt the FF staff on which one world airline and route they should look into.

Ahhh, at last we hear the dreaded *a* word, namely "award". You did not mention that you were looking for award flights in your original post, although it was blindingly obvious to anyone with a clue (namely, the flights you mentioned would NOT be booked out for paying SLC on the dates you wanted).

Mentioning ALL of the fact smight be useful next time.

Dave

A few suggestions:

1. Platinum and Gold FF members get better award availability for economy cabin travel, with award tix coming from the T fare bucket as well as X. So try to get to Gold level status for better availability

2. Try some more creative routings. Even QF's res agents don't look at all options. Even try something like BA LHR-NRT and QF NRT-SYD, or BA LHR-BOM and QF BOM-SYD. Also remeber you can use AO flights for QF awards.

3. Wait until after May 25 and book the award as one-way and pay for the return with real money. But of course the chance of getting to your destination after waiting until May for booking is unlikely, especially with all the QF FF members cashing in their points for awards before the May 25 deadline.

Come fly with me, lets fly away...

London -> Tokyo -> Bristol (UK) -> Adelaide -> Perth

Interesting route :p

And if the NRT-BNE (assuming not Bristol) is anything my experience on that route yesterday, there should be plenty of availability. Only one other pax in business class, and about 40% load in economy for the NRT-CNS leg, then only 46 people on board in total for the CNS-BNE leg - again only one other in business class. Its great to experience those GE powered 767-338's climb with such a light load.

Yes that was Brisbane,Adelaide,Perth and not Bristol UK, the only thing now instead of Brisbane, Cairns....with a 6 hour stopover, asked them about a day pass to qantas club they said Sorry no.

Cheers
