As a major user of JQi *Class long haul services, I have noted QF no longer seem to be doing JQ code shares. IE no QF marketed flights on JQ metal. I seem to remember QF offering code shares on JQ metal flights to and from Asian ports but I can't seem to find any over the next 3 months.

Is this just me or has QF stopped doing code shares on JQ metal? The major effect, for me, is there seems to be no way to earn 2,700 QF marketed SCs (needed for WP1) flying on JQ metal.

Soemthing must be happening. Have you checked flightstats.com or GDS for the particular route?

Flightstats does show QF265 as a code share for JQ29 but the QF booking engine does not offer QF265 as a option for Mel/Bkk. Checked for the next 8 weeks.

So do you need to get a TA to book it?

No need. The 2,700 SCs on QF marketed flights required for WP1 specifically exclude flights on JQ metal. Go figure as the last time I checked, JQ were 100% owned by QF and are part of the QF group. http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/privileges

+ Qantas marketed flights are flights with a QF flight number on the ticket. Status credits are not earned on Qantas marketed flights operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia
+ refers to the 2,700 SC requirement for WP1.

This means that even if you fly on QF group metal (JQ), you will not earn SCs toward the 2,700 SC WP1 requirement. So don't expect to find any WP1s flying on JQ.

I think that statement (re not earning status credits) may be out of date, or at least not completely true anymore. It was true, but over time some classes have been added, such as when the QF flight on JQ is part of a oneworld fare.

That second quote seems to state the obvious, as you can't buy the plus or max packs from Qantas for JQ flights. Anyway, I don't know enough about earning for QF codeshares on JQ to make any informed comment. Was just suggesting a way to get the QF flight number.

As I read it, the no SC earned statement is directed to the special class 2,700 SCs needed for WP1. Note the +. Are you saying that a QF marketed JQ metal flight would, at some time in the past, not earn SCs? If so I just learned something.

As far as I can see, the full sentence is

^ Status credits are earned on Qantas marketed flights (that is, with a QF flight number on your ticket) except on flights operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia other than in Economy classes of B, H, K, or Y (earn in L class is eligible only when travelling on a oneworld fare product)

The L part was added recently.

So QF in BHKY is ok.

Maybe it is late at night but I am having a hard time understanding that sentence. It is like a double negative with an exception. I know frequent flyer schemes can be complex, but Qantas do a poor job of explaining them simply and unambiguously. To me this implies that Economy Jetstar fares don't count towards the Platinum one 2700 limit unless part of a oneworld ticket, but it seems to imply that Business class fares D and J would count.

I don''t believe Qantas have codeshare in the Jetstar business cabins, so I don't think you could do it.

The QF booking engine does allow you to buy JQ Y Max packs but QF does not seem to sell the JQ Business standard or JQ Business Max packs. From what I can see there is no way to earn the special class 2,700 WP1 SCs flying JQ metal, even if on a QF numbered ticket.

While the QF booking engine does not sell JQ Business fares, maybe a TA can do that. But if the QF + 2,700 SC definition is correct, it would be of no value.

Is that only when they transfer you off to the JQ website? If so, then is it still a QF marketed flight.

I think you can earn towards the 2,700. If you get the QF flight number in BHKY or as part of a LONE. I guess oz_mark has said this would not also apply to a DONE, for example. I can only take his word for that.

I do take a different interpretation for the + point you quoted.

+ Qantas marketed flights are flights with a QF flight number on the ticket. Status credits are not earned on Qantas marketed flights operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia

That is 2 sentences. The first tells us what is a Qantas marketed flight. The second just says that SC are not earned on JQ flights. That is just a general statement. However, elsewhere, as quoted, it tells us that some Qantas marketed flights on JQ metal do earn SC. So if you earn SC on a Qantas marketed flight, i.e. having a QF flight number, then they must count towards the 2700 requirement. There is no specific exclusion to say 2700 on QF marketed flights except QF marketed flights on JQ.

One last thing, I just wanted to break the other confusing sentence down to explain how I interpret it:

^ Status credits are earned on Qantas marketed flights (that is, with a QF flight number on your ticket) except on flights operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia other than in Economy classes of B, H, K, or Y (earn in L class is eligible only when travelling on a oneworld fare product)

The easiest way is to turn it into dot points:
  • SC are earned QF marketed flights
  • but not on those operated by JQ
  • unless the on a JQ operated flight in BHKY classes, and L as part of a oneworld product.
So SC can be earnt on QF marketed flights operated by JQ in some cases.

The problem with a DONE is that I don't believe that Qantas has codeshares in JQ's business cabin. I am trying to find out if this is so,

You'd know better than I would, was just trying to say I have no idea on that question.

So the question seems to be:

Is there anyway to buy a QF ticketed Business Max fare on JQi? If so do those SCs earned qualify for the 2,700 special class WP1 SCs? It would seem we may need a name for the new special class 2,700 WP1 SCs. Maybe 27SCs to differentiate them from normal SCs.

IIRC the only way to purchase these QF codeshares was as a part of a FF redemption?
I know the info is somewhere that states something to that affect. May be off but it has been mentioned before.
