No more secondary gate screening on Australia bound flights from certain airports?

In force at BKK last week. Quite annoying as there wasn't any water refill at the gate lounge.

They were enforcing LAG rules at the first security screen.

Noting that LAG rules were enforced in transit security (2 Nov), where they still have the old x-ray machines
Yes that's correct as I transitted from HKIA to KIX.

Back in the day when QF did DXB - MEL, screening prior to boarding, bottle of water from the Lounge confiscated🫣
I had this flying Emirates DXB-MEL last year, I'd forgotten this little quirk of flights to Australia with the extra secondary security search to confiscate liquid at boarding. Luckily Emirates had a new bottle waiting for me at my seat.

At Bali airport this afternoon awaiting my flight to KL and witnessed the Jetstar DPS-SIN flight follows the same Australian rules doing gate screening for liquids.

Interesting. Not a requirement for DPS-SIN flights, I’ve done a few over the years, including KLM twice this year and never had secondary screening. Must be a JQ requirement.

More rubbish from Australian government!

Was hilarious scenes at SGN when we flew SGN-MEL late last year. Staff at top of escalator just before boarding pen was searching all bags and confiscating bottles of water. Go down escalator at shops selling bottled water so people just purchased there and took them onboard

And at CGK a few days ago. Even looked in my laptop bag (which isn't very big).
Our last flight CGK-MEL on GA they had a little table at the gate and you had to go up and have your bag/s inspected and then you got a little sticker on your boarding pass.
People cottoned on to it and would take out their water, hand it to their travel partner and go up and get the bags searched. Once the sticker was put on their BP’s they went back to collect their water from their travel partner. We stood and watched this go on for about 10 minutes or so 🤣
