(Apologies in advance if this has been answered, a quick search found nothing)

Has there been a change in policy recently regarding complementary wine / beer on QFd, and in particular the 737s? Only a few months ago I was being offered free wine (even second bottles!) as part of the evening meal service in Y, but now, no longer. $6 for anything!

I haven't caught a DH-8 in a while but iirc they're a bit more lax about this, maybe to make up for the cramped conditions!

It is a weekday thing, were you flying on a weekend?

No change I aware of. Beer/Wine is complementary on weekday flights on Citiflyer routes after 4 pm. So if a weekend, before 4pm or not going between cities, then you pay!

Once I was on an early afternoon flight from DRW to ADL and asked for wine without realising the time. My wallet was in my bag which was in the overhead compartment and I was seated by the window, so the flight attendant just wa(i)ved me...

And while it can be a good benefit, it's incredibly confusing for non-FFers (and even some FFers?). I've asked everyone I know who isn't an every week passenger and so far no-one knew exactly when Qantas would offer complimentary wine and beer in Y. In terms of understand-ability it's always been pretty hopeless and seems even more so now.

One of the few genuine, unique benefits for Qantas's Perth passengers is that the complimentary beer and wine comes out on flights departing from midday rather than 4pm and is every day of the week, not just weekdays. And I've been on more than one flight ex-Perth to the east that's departed circa 8am and the beer and wine have freely flowed.

I even received complimentary alcohol on Easter Monday which in the past many crew would treat Public Holidays as weekends.

I think it is sometimes pretty random and depends on the FAs as to whether you are charged the $6 or not. On one recent flight it was announced as wine for sale so I dutifully passed over mr $6 and the FA gave me my 'change' - yep the $6 back. Other times if i want a wine I just pay if it not included. Also if flights are late sometimes the wine has been gratis. A bit of a lottery and part of life's rich tapestry!

It's always been offered on public holidays in my experience. As long as the public holiday was a weekday. The Mon-Fri did not seem to exclude them. Another reason why this was a rather confusing offering. City Flyer routes were added (but no-one seemed to know or notice), Perth service was adjusted...

I take the Q400's and occasionally Q300's often, and find them to be quite spacious. Not sure what you're referring to ;)

QF should really standardise this and turn it into a blanket rule - free booze everyday after X-Time (12 ex-PER), regardless of weekday/weekend. It can be annoying at times when in Y on a weekend and asking for a beer and then getting asked for $$$....

Mmm.. a rather reputed rumour of thirsty travellers in the West :D

But I assume that you are usually/mostly/always in 1A, with perhaps a shadow effect..
