After being WP for 9 consecutive years, of which the last few years I've earned at least 100-200 SCs over the minimum requirement, QFF downgraded me to SG even though I was only 105SCs short of requalifying with a missing points claim in process (that would have gotten me past the line)! They even had the gall to "offer" me the chance to spend 120000 points to retain WP a month before my anniversary date even though my account showed that I had flights booked that would have gotten me past the line too! My loyalty clearly holds little value to QF...
Obviously, I'm now back at WP once my last flights were credited...

Did the delay result in an extra year extension of your WP or did they back-date?

Interesting. A few years back I got an extra year of SG based on a three year weighted average (I'm guessing) and I was far, far under the requal requirement but had met the 4 squiggles.

Wonder if it's changed based on all the new DSC WP and SGs on the books?

The weighted average thing went out the door a few years ago.

It was backdated allowing me to requalify for WP for another year.
Rude. So essentially they denied you a few weeks WP? Did you travel during that period?

120k for Plat, and 80k for Gold seems to have been the case for the last few years
(Whether you're 50 or 500 SCs short)

I think you are using the word loyalty the wrong way. If you achieve the required the SCs then you get a reward for the next period.

That's the way it should be looked at, not loyalty as that give the impression there is a relationship which in this case there wasn't as straight away the OP went to Virgin.

My point is this: my requalification for WP is under review when I pass my anniversary date. I'm 105SCs short. You'd think they'd check if I had a missing points claim in process that may get me over the line before downgrading my status. Clearly not.

The way IT automation works is obviously there is no check and when the flight check was processed it was granted. So you got what you wanted, so really you're complaining about the speed of the claim?

It's not really under review. You either have or haven't re-qualified. It's not a subjective assessment.

I wonder if P1s are exempt from it. I am yet to read of a report of a P1 who did not reach 1200/4~ and got bumped down to SG.

As far as I'm aware it's not that P1 are exempt from it but that you get a soft landing to WP. SImilar to the OP who got a soft landing to SG from WP.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Points claims can fail.
Booked but not taken flights can be cancelled.

I guess there are reasons they don't look at these things....
