Hello all

I returned from a flight this week and there were 4 devices (2 tablets and one smartphone at least) in use in rows 3 to 5. As they were the pax own devices, they had no headphones I assume, and so i enjoyed the symphony of games, clips and other wonderful multimedia (all praise the 21st century). So friends, what will happen when there is 100 to 300 pax all enjoying - and sharing - the wonders of streamed inflight entertainment sans headphones. Is this what you all want. Am i being a spoiled sport. If i highly value the Chicken Song and play it for two hours BNE - MLB on loop - is this OK. As no one minded the cough (IMO) that was being played for the flight last week.

You ought be thankful Virgin supply decent noise-cancelling buds: I flew Q's new 767 with iPads the other week. No streaming till half-way through the flight and the earbuds were completely useless, even at max volume it was hard to hear.

Brisbane to FLlorida (MLB) in two hours - what are you flying?

I am surprised at the lack of headphones - I have once experienced this flying MEL-PER on DJ (the airline is not relevant to this topic) where a small child was playing with the ipad with no headphones. I had noise cancelling/blocking headphones on so it wasnt a big issue for me. I haven't experienced it on other flights. Generally I would expect pax to BYO headphones and the airline supplied headphones in whY are carp.

I agree it is pretty unacceptable - did you consider asking the FAs to do something?

Maybe once streaming goes mainstream they might update the announcement to include a requirement for headphones.

Interesting observation as I have read exactly the opposite of this in relation to DJ/VA's ear buds.

N/C Earbuds? DJ? You have to be joking.

The do provide N/C phones on the 332 services in J however.

In recent times they have increased the available volume on the Galaxy Tabs (with a warning about hearing), better than before and the white earbuds at least can be used - but still require full volume.

.

That must be what I am referring to. One hell of a lot better than the Q stuff they hand out in Y. My Etymotics gave up a little while back so I'm back to Logitech's myself anyway, that might explain it.
