I flew CPT-JNB-PER on SA in business class - and credited to my LM account - the CPT-JNB sector posted but the JNB-PER did not. After sending a claim for missing miles to LM - I finally received a response (> 2 weeks later) which said this sector was in "P" class which is "not defined" in their system so no miles.

Indeed P class is not in their table but really isn't this just an omission on their part and not an intention to exclude this class - it's a business class fare not a discounted economy class (on re-checking my e-ticket I note that CPT-JNB was C class).

Not sure what to do - I strongly suspect that arguing with them via e-mail will be futile and while I guess I could retroactively try to claim on another *A program I don't have on where it would be worthwhile (just a few orphan miles here and there).

Anyone with experience with this sort of claim.

You will likely find that P class doesn't credit on a number of *A airlines.... I recall this being raised a number of times here...

Thanks for the replies - didn't realise the P class issue was already on this forum - have send "support" a response seeking a re-think as I believe it is an omission and not intentional - sounds like that will be futile.

I could try to credit to another *A program (e.g. UA or SQ) but still feel any miles will end up as "orphan" - but may give it a shot - could be shot down (no pun intended) as I've already "claimed" with another program. BTW - MR LL credited his SA flights to SQ and received 12000 miles.

Clearly this is not my biggest travel concern in these trying times.

P class will credit to quite a few programs, but not Lifemiles.

Thanks - should have checked that chart but then I had no choice but to fly SA when I bailed out of a South Africa - Seychelles trip after 4 days (of planned 47) - QF was $1500 more pp on the one-way fare (CPT-JNB-PER (SA)-SYD (VA) was $3100pp). Our original return flights were awards on SQ but we could not get through to SQ to try and change the date; also we did not want to transit a third country in any case with the way the situation with flight cancellations and restrictions were changing by the hour.

The only other *A program I belong to (but have not used in many years) is UA. Can't really see joining another one for a few orphan points.

Might be enough for a USA domestic. I used 8000 QFFF points for a flight retailing at USD247. Can sometimes come in useful :)

Well here's the final chapter on this minor issue - I responded to LM seeking a review of their booking classes for business class - responded overnight - no dice.

So I made an online request to UA and the miles (6000) posted immediately - I mean in seconds - so I'm impressed - now I have 15,000+ miles (already had some orphan miles) to splurge when ever we're back in the air. Maybe even domestic Australia when SQ take over VA 😅

I feel for the above correspondents who missed out on a large portion of status credits. My experience is relatively minor, but frustrating. My wife and I flew back from Santiago (Chile) booked through LATAM, but on a Qantas B747 to Sydney and again on Qantas metal to Melbourne. QFFService continue to refuse to allocate the J class Sydney to Melbourne ticket on our activity schedule, showing the flight as ineligible. Endless exchanges with QFFService, plus three time photographic evidence of clearly labelled Business Class boarding class tickets, plus PDF attachments of same, nothing has changed except that my membership year has ticked over and I am back to zero, none the wiser if we will ever get the points and status credits. I recognise that all staff @ QFFService are under extreme pressure, but .........

Did QFF suggest that the fare class of the flight to be ineligible?

Was your booking class one of CDIJZ as per the LA earning table? If it is eligible you may have luck through the ACA, but noting that it is probably swamped with cases at the moment.

Hi mannej,

no, QFFService acknowledge eligibility and quoted the correct points and SC and asked for a PDF file with itinerary and boarding passes ( after me sending them photograps of each at least twice) sent the PDF and five weeks later and the Chinese excreta occurrence, still no receipt of either points or SC.
