Just checked in for my first flight post Sabre implementation (from a booking perspective much better than the old system), on my iPhone using the Virgin App.

Previously when I received the text message of the boarding pass, the iPhone would recognise it as a Virgin boarding pass and give me the option to put in my "Passport", which I have always done with ease.

This time, there was no option and I am taken to a web page in Safari - has Virgin Australia abandoned the iPhone Passport app?

Nope, worked for me on Thursday.

The process that I have to go through is check in through the app which sends an SMS, follow the link in the message to a web page, which when fully loaded recognises the presence of Passbook and invites you to add the BP.
Click that link, Passbook opens and asks for confirmation to add the BP.

Slightly convoluted, but in my experience, reliable.

Thanks day-heg

that's the process I went through before, but this time the link was not recognised by the Passbook.

Same issue for me this morning too. No prompt to add to Passbook, though was working fine last week. Updated to the latest iOS patch (6.1.2) last night though this is probably unrelated...

Out of interest, were you using Safari or another browser to open the link from the SMS?

Worked last week. Didn't work today. No updates done and standard safari browser so must be a bug with either Virgin or Apple

I know my iPhone did an upgrade last week to iOS 6.1.2 so I am wondering if that is the issue? Interestingly ATreeFiddy did an iOS update since his last successful boarding pass in Passport. May be there is a "feature" in that upgrade that Virgin are not aware of.

I didn't upgrade but passbook stil didn't work (and it did last weekend)

Bah I just checked in on my phone. *Still* broken! NGE!

I flew back yesterday and also found it not fixed

Did an iPhone OLCI today and no go with passbook either!

Admission from VA on Twitter that Passbook is broken: https://twitter.com/VirginAustralia/status/307750921788588034

Thank God, and I thought it was me.....

(and no, I am not post padding) LOL:lol:

as notzac mentioned, VA have acknowledged the fault. Still, No idea why it'd take so long to fix!

You'd hope because they're dealing with far more important things ;)
Considering all it does is dish out a file and the phone sees it and goes 'oh! Passbook insert!' and pops up a prompt, i'm surprised it's not a quick fix. It's obviously more complicated.

One thing I did notice today is that my bookings now show up on Velocity without me needing to re-log back in, which is a good step forward. Also, I can actually login quite quickly (previously, it was slower than concrete).
