I recently enjoyed CX business class flying SYD-HKG-JFK return as part of a oneworld zone 10 through Qantas, paying 280000 points. The flights were fantastic!!! but I overpaid :(. Just realised I can book through CX and pay 160000 points for a 20000-25000 miles ow flight in business. Problem is I cannot find availability at all. Looking to fly cbr-syd-hkg-lhr-mil return in August. Any suggestions?

OWE? Call Qantas. They can often see/release more seats than you see online.

Yes I am OWE. But will Qantas help if I want to book fare with Asiamiles?

No they won't. I have no real knowledge of asiamiles. Your original post inferred QFF.

the only thing to do is look at the asia miles site regularly - they have a traffic light system for award availability (green, amber and red for not available). They also seem to release some seats closer to departure - especially on AU routes. I have seen flights 'fully booked' a few months out but showing ok a couple weeks before. Can you also waitlist for CX awards using asiamiles?

Ring up CATHAY. They can see the flights, they can also waitlist you on points. They usually treat OWE well, even if not MP Diamond.

Yes probably. They treat elite status very well - Diamond exceptionally well; but Gold is OK too. Silver and below - not so much.
