I am looking at transferring some point/ miles off a Citi Select / Prestige warehouse into Asia Miles.
My questions are:
Can I redeem Asia Miles for non family members?
How many redemption nominees do I get off one account?
It appeared that 350.000 Asia Miles would get two in business class to London from Australia. How much are the redemption fees and is the availability I saw really there?
All I have done so far is open an account with zero miles in it today.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Sure I enjoy SQ and Kris Flyer but I am full up on my redemption nominees into 2015.

Sorry I can't help you on this one, Cove
As I recall I was able to do some dummy runs too but couldn't get to surcharge screen.
Why don't you redeem to another "additional cardholder" via Citi to SQ - technically you could have up to 25 nominees (you + 4 additional)

Thanks for your thoughts Duffa. I had just started on running up points off ATO using my sons Black Altitude Amex and the game stopped in its tracks. I can use my brothers account for extra Kris miles as he has a Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer card. He has used the 600,000 points I gave him so he should be sympathetic if I need another redemption nominee or two.
My brother has a year of bookings using those Kris miles so he is happy.

Geez. Any way I can marry into the family Cove? ;)

Well Cynicor I only have 2 sons but I help my brother fly his girlfriends to France thanks to Kris miles.
My immediate family that I fly are my SIL plus niece, my two sons and of course Mrscove and one of her girlfriends. So you can now see why I am trying to get a bit of info on Asia miles seeing I have 3 lots of warehoused points that I could transfer.
Life of course is a lot more than a frequent flyer point so I recommend you concentrate on finding real romance.

1. Yes you can have up to 5 nominees
2. Do a dummy booking and check the taxes which is what II would pay for a redemption
3. Not sure why availability you mean but if it's on Cx.com it's real

Enjoy ASIA Miles :)

Thanks for your post yohy?! as it is most helpful. Asia Miles looks really good and I have travelled on both Cathay and Dragon Air and they were very nice.
I have warehoused points with Amex Premier Rewards (a US card),Westpac Black Altitude and Citibank Prestige.

Hi Cove,

i recently booked a QF F SYD-DFW for my GF for next year as i didn't have enough to book us both using QFF points.

I simply added her name as a nominee and away we went. Taxes were (unfortunately) as high as QF. about A$550.

i haven't done the hard maths but i have a feeling AsiaMiles is not as good a redemption as Krisflyer when using citipoints- 3:2 vs 2:1.

that said, it opens up some more options across the pond and the opportunity to try CX F!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes I know the SQ product has been brilliant but my plan to get my youngest son into many warehoused Kris Miles using Westpac Black Altitude and ATO have been thwarted. Then he missed switching to Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer and Westpac stopped taking new applicants.
Cathay looks ok for another range of options.

Or you could read it that round trips get a discount over the cost of one ways?

Happy wandering

Fred

If you book a one way then the return say a week later is there any chance they will combine at the return points level? I want a return booking for 12 months out but the flights I want will be.popular hence as soon as the outbound comes up I want to.snap it up immediately rather than wait until the return also comes within date range.

Any idea on how long points take to post from Citi?

Beware miles expire if unused. I'm unsure if putting through a nominal transaction will extend balance.

It doesn't ...you'd have to pay to extend the life of miles if they're unused

now that avios is available to redeem on citi prestige... i would look into that closely...
