Hi All, I'm Antony and new to the group.

I've had too many flight stuffups and honestly don't understand frequent flyer programs as well as I should. I've got an American Express Platinum for business with decent points accumulation, but I'm clearly not maximising them.

To put it in perspective: I went to Bali business in June using 700k Velocity points and paid $3k out of pocket. The experience was frustrating and I'm pretty sure I overpaid massively.

I keep hearing about people doing extravagant Europe business class trips for just $2k, so clearly I'm doing something wrong.

I'm not locked into any airline alliances - I'm open to switching programs or strategies. Would genuinely appreciate any advice on what I'm missing and how to get better value from my points.

Cheers
