Hi Guys, sorry completely new to using my frequent flyer points. My work has been flying me around the world for 2 years now and have a few frequent flyer points saved and currently have gold status. My gold status ends 31st December and my work trips have also ended.

I need 205 status points to retain Gold status and i'm currently in a period of able to earn double status points.

whats the best way to get 105 status points flying out of adelaide? how many ff points will it cost me? what fare type do I book to best get status credits (red e-deal, flex)?

Thanks in advance for any advice! :)

Thanks HVR

but I am confused when i see this, there is a fixed points for this flight?
ADL-xSYD-CBR = 100SC for 36014 points or 360 points/SC (day return possible)

because when i search on qantas website it states (35,400 for red -deal and 56000 for flexi saver) and the status calculator on the qantas website says i need to book a flexi saver to earn 100SC

You should be looking at booking an any seat award in Business, a simple one way ADL TSV will hit the numbers you need, look for classic award availability on the day you want then ring and book as per the second link provided upthread specifically this info

If you want to book an Any Seat Award that books into the Classic Award fare classes, follow this process:

1. Check on-line for classic award availability. If Classic Award availability exists, proceed to next step.
2. Call the new special phone number (1300 366 587) 9am-5pm EST Mo-Fr and ask "I would like to book a Classic Award fare as an Any Seat Award please".
3. You should not be charged any Telephone Assistance Booking Fee for the reservation
4. If the agent does not understand the request, ask them to check with a supervisor and try reversing the request above to "I would like to book an Any Seat Award in X/Z/U/P class" [these are the classic award fare classes for economy/premium/business/first]

The 'classic awards' do not earn points or SCs. So don't book them on line. You need to ring up and follow these steps:

However, only full economy (Y class) will earn 50 SCs for a one way trip. This fare class is basically unavailable. Suggest you look to see if business (J class) is available one way and then do economy the other way.

Would hate to see you do this travel and end up short.

ok so to book I need to call up.

Flying to Townsville would mean I need to stay overnight?

I have a friend who lives in Perth I am happy to visit. How can I calculate how many points I will need to spend and how many status points I will gain flying to Perth? I am happy to fly via MEL or SYD to boost the necessary.

I also have a flight booked Gold Coast - Tokyo in December before my renewal with Jetstar but I have no idea how many Status points this will gain me.
