New Sofitel in Adelaide?

Saw references on FT to a new (but delayed) full Sofitel in Adelaide. Only references I could see online were from 3 years ago. So I assume it's not happening. But does anyone know the story?

Definitely happening still. Construction started towards the end of May. I drive past it several times a week on Currie St.
Completion date is towards the end of 2020 I believe.
The new Crowne Plaza should be completed by then aswell

Good to hear. Thanks for that. I do hope it's a full service Sofitel (eg, Exec Lounge, spa etc).

If memory serves, the GPO will be a Westin.

From the last time I drove past, and like Jase said, it'd have to be 2020 for the Sofitel. It's basically not more than a hole in the ground at the moment.

The new Westin is probably similar timing.

I travel frequently to Auckland and have been following the progress of the new (So) Sofitel there. I believe it opened last week. Was first announced to open in 2015 I think, but up until maybe 18 months ago it was an empty shell of a building with zero activity going on best I could see. Good to know Adelaide is happening.

Westin is on the GPO site and not scheduled to open until mid 2022.
At this stage the Sofitel, Crowne Plaza, Vibe and Indigo hotels will all be opening around July/August

That info came from a friend who works for the Adelaide City Council so who knows

They got the airport hotel up and running pretty quickly!
