Hi All,

I was wondering if any of you had seen the new Business class pyjamas yet? As detailed in the April edition of The Australian Way...
"Qantas will introduce pyjamas into Business. “For the first time,” says Executive General Manager Qantas John Borghetti. Designer of the Qantas uniforms, Peter Morrissey is responsible for the Business pyjamas in grey, 100 per cent cotton jersey. “As the designer of Qantas uniforms worldwide for 38,000 staff, I am very understanding of the demands, beliefs, requirements and needs of Qantas.” He says his brief was to give passengers something unique and special – and also something they would take with them to enjoy after the flight."
I've just completed a DONE4 and on my first leg (BNE-LAX) I got the new and minute amenities kit (and had to ask for the eyeshades and earplugs separately because the new kit is too small to include those items!) but I didn't get the new pajamas. I didn't think to ask the aircrew about it at the time. Interestingly, my only other QF leg as the last of the trip (HKG-BNE) where we were given the old style amenities kits. I guess they still have stocks that they need to get rid of.

Has anyone else sighted the fabled business class pyjamas?

Regards, Dot

PS. I'm not a fan of the new amenities kits - they are too small and will be next to useless after the flight is over...

Pyjamas are not planned for business class on the BNE-LAX route. They will only be available on selected "premium" routes, such as LAX-SYD, LAX-MEL, LHR-BKK, LHR-SIN.

It's this sort of trivial cheapskate nonsense from QF that really coughs people off, after all the airfare is the same, but BNE travellers are being told sorry, you are an inferior destination. How ridiculous.

Aaah, but BNE *is* an inferior departure point for Qantas, and Cathay, and Emirates and ...

I hate it. It's why I prefer to route through SYD whenever I can. Not that it is a great airport though!

Indeed ridiculous.

Isn't the whole point of the amenity kit to provide items for use in flight , so no reason for them to have a use afterwards

Dave

so they will be supplied LON-SIN and LON-BKK but not LON-HKG, why one asks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a set on LAX-SYD recently, but I had to specifically request them (twice) and they were L/XL, where M would've suited me better. They're quite plain, quite nice...just far too big!

Cheers,
- Febs.

True - but I use the cases after the flight for a range of other things - keeping small cables tidy in my car and in my backpack, etc - Not really an essential use I agree - but if the kit is too small to include earplugs and eyeshades, it is still too small.

Is it due to flight times - I am guessing they dont give them out on day time flights?

Not the criteria. BNE-LAX vv and AKL-LAX vv are night time flights. No pjs :(

That would be normal (on the only occasions I have flown first, BA on a daytime flight did not offer pyjamas and Cathay on a night flight did), but both the BNE-LAX and HKG-BNE QF legs were overnight flights.

SQ is the same in F.

PJs only offered on night flights.

Not true. SQ F has pjs, for example, AKL-SIN which is day flight. SQ criteria is based on normal flight length, with shorter requirement for overnight flight to get pjs than for daytime flight.

No, they seem to have just chosen their "premier" 3-class long-haul routes. It really annoys me that they think people travelling on other routes that are also overnight and similar duration do not deserve the same amenities when they are basically paying the same price for the fare. Talk about a Sydney-centric view of who is important.

I like the SQ approach. Defined time-based criteria (may even be on their website - I haven't checked), doesn't matter whether regional or longhaul destination. If flight is long enough then get it.

QF need to take a leaf out of SQ's book. How BNE-LAX can be considered regional/non-premium for a 12hr50min flight and quite often fill J past 80% is just a "Sydney-centric" view of a bean counter who sits at Mascot and doesn't understand customer needs. If i am going to pay the same price (the base J fares appear to be higher than BNE for my selected dates in may), I would at least like to get the same service and product.

As per my earlier post I am in total agreement with you, but as this is the only direct BNE-LAX service and is likely to be so for some time they can get away with cost cutting without risking any loss of business. As a Melbourne resident i am used to getting second best service and scheduling from QF as are most of us here, but being a big "world city" city we have just too many important business and tourist travellers especially from the USA for QF to treat us as total cough :!: Also, there will eventually be a competitor from here on the direct service, it's only a matter of time. BNE is another story though.

Its not Sydney Centric as SFO-SYD do not get the PJ's either. It is is the LAX-SYD route where they have competition.

Hi,

Does this still apply for SFO-SYD?

Just scored a Business Class award in April on the late flight home.

Cheers
