Looks like the progressive redesign of QF's website has reached its zenith (or is that nadir?) with the booking page getting some love:

I think I like it - it seems a lot less dense, so you have to scroll a lot more, but I like the flight detail summary that pops up (see in my picture). The old one was straight out of the early 2000s, so hurrah for change?

Thoughts?

I like it.... would be nice if they allowed you to see seat availability

This has been around for a couple of months - for domestic flights.

Not that new but a welcome step forward (or at least a return to previous functionality of seeing every option on one screen). I am probably mistaken but i thought I read somewhere that seat choices appropriate to your status would be viewable before booking.

I have a feeling international won't change anytime soon as it's so much more complex with codeshares, partners, different earning rates and all the rest.

Domestic is very simple because of the fare structures it's far easier to group in this way. International not so much.

Still, we'll see. It's a little annoying from an ease of use point of view to have an inconsistent interface, but that's QF for ya!

Yep was just going to say the same thing.

International flights booking engine remains unchanged.

Ah, right. All my domestic bookings are usually for work and done through another provider's portal (hence I didn't notice it until now!)

Nothing to see here, move along. *whistles*

I don't like it. It may grow on me, but I'm skeptical.

I don't like it either. Maybe I'm just a creature of habit but I find it easier and faster to use the old/international interface.

While they're at it, I would love to see them enhance the To and From selection lists to just need the first three letters of the cities you are searching. Most other web sites manage this without the constant need to change from region to region during a search..

hmm well if I put in say AKL-MEL into the search engine it pops up a note and gives me ex-NZ pricing etc.... is this not, more or less, the same thing?

To take that a step further. I wish it would prioritise IATA codes. If I type ORD, it should really give me Chicago as the first option ahead of Abbotsford, Amman and Bordeaux

Like PER is not Perth and MEL is not Melbourne when you enter these three letters.

I don't like the changes but more than likely get used to it after a while.

Everything these days are designed with tablets or smartphones in mind but it's awful on desktop or laptop.

And usually terrible on a tablet or phone

I don't know that this particular change is too relevant for mobile devices as the mobile site is still the older form engine (at least the other day it was).

I quite like the new design. Sure, it takes a bit of getting used to, but at least it provides info in the one place like SC's for whichever price point you select, a short form of key fare rules and points. I think it's more transparent for the user to more easily see the choices.

As I've already observed, I find it unfortunate that now the forms are inconsistent for domestic v international bookings (I won't even bother to include the "old" engine used for voucher bookings and the mobile site). ideally web design should be consistent across all platforms and have a consistent look and feel.. Currently it's not.. but since when did this, er, inconsistency ever stop QF? :)

Still everyone's going to have a differing view of a subjective thing like this.
